Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... Lippit has emerged as an important figure in the Dutch and European electronic and improvised music scene over the past years. Especially through his role as artistic director of the STEIM institute in Amsterdam 2008-2013. His work has been reviewed in The Wire, New York Times etc. I will add appropriate references in the next hour... --DX ArtMedia (talk) 20:22, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore, as you can now read in the article, Lippit's work is discussed in the Cambridge Companion to Electronic Music, and he is acclaimed for his development of turntable/DJ practice as an autonomous form of musicianship.DX ArtMedia (talk) 20:49, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • @I dream of horses: I've declined it because of the mention in the Cambridge book - a mention in an academic source would be enough to pass speedy criteria. However, I do need to caution you, DX ArtMedia, that some portions of the article are borderline promotional. One sentence in particular contains the phrase "an experimental music initiative that aims to connect communities of experimental and electronic musicians throughout Asia". I'd recommend that you remove everything past "an experimental music initiative", as the rest is the type of thing you would see on a press release promoting the initiative. Make sure that you're careful of WP:WEASEL words, as they can seem innocuous at first (especially if you are new to editing Wikipedia and/or are used to writing in a promotional or non-neutral tone) but can be seen as promotional by others. Thanks Tokyogirl79 I adjusted the last sentence. For the record: the reference to the Cambridge book was added after @I dream of horses: had flagged the article for speedy deletion. I.e. s/he was right to flag it (however, I was still putting the article together when it was done). DX ArtMedia (talk) 09:07, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
