Duplicate reference

[edit]

Greetings @TakuyaMurata, It appears you rolled back my recent edit (1104161017). I'm not sure I understand why there needs to be two references. The first citation is described as "A'Campo, Ji & Papadopoulos 2016" and links to the citation which refers to the part which is relevant to this article. Having it point to the citation following it doesn't really seem to serve a purpose from what I can see. Would you mind explaining in more detail why you feel there needs to be two links to the same reference? Thanks Terrickisaiah555 [T]/[C] 03:51, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As I wrote in the edit summary, that particular reference is used for all the claims in the article (not just a single sentence). So it is more appropriate to put in the reference, rather than in an inline citation. (For the particular sentence, only the intro of the article is used but the rest of the article are also relevant.) —- Taku (talk) 03:58, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I wonder if it may be more appropriate to have the citation with the page reference for the citation and then the page range as the overall reference? @TakuyaMurata Terrickisaiah555 [T]/[C] 04:08, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure what you mean. I have modified the inline citation to clarify the intro is used for backing the claim. As for a page range, the entire article is used so there is no need to specify the range. —- Taku (talk) 04:22, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, you got it. I think it helps having the more specific information on the citation for the claim so people can find more quickly within the reference where it was sourced from. Thanks! Terrickisaiah555 [T]/[C] 05:16, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
