Fair use rationale for Image:Tancazo.jpg

Image:Tancazo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

These image belongs to the historical archives of the Republic of Chile, have entered their public domain and can be used by everybody provided they attributed their source. --Mel Romero (talk) 01:19, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Cold War bias

The tag "Part of the Cold War" above the photo in the summary at the top is unsupported by the article, and is arguably biased.

• Nothing in the article mentions the Cold War, the Soviet Union or the United States. Only two 'See also' links mention the U.S.
• Every named main actor in the article appears to be Chilean.

There is no doubt that the U.S. was working to overthrow Chile's elected government, and information on the U.S. role (if any) in this attempt would be relevant and welcome. But framing every military uprising from 1944 to 1991, or even every serious dispute between left and right, as primarily part of the Cold War unjustifiably diminishes the reported event to a footnote in a global war instead of a significant step in Chile's later loss of democracy. Such framing declares the article's point of view as from Washington (and perhaps from Moscow). It should be seen from Chile, though of course context in the article, even a section on how the event fit into the Cold War, would be legitimate.

In encyclopedias as well as journalism, headlines and subheads should reflect the text that follows. This tag does not. I suggest replacing "Part of the Cold War" with something like "Prelude to military coup", linking to the article "1973 Chilean coup d'état". EricClarion (talk) 06:35, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
