tantalum pentoxide = triuranium octoxide[edit]

The image File:Kristallstruktur Triuranoctoxid.png featured in this article shows U3O8 – why the hell then is it in the article decsribing Ta2O5? Vinne2 (talk) 11:12, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! So they are isostructural... Vinne2 (talk) 17:11, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What is the refractive index?[edit]

The article says it is used because of its refractive index, but nowhere mentions what that might be? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.183.221.118 (talk) 17:20, 3 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reasons for WP:SECONDARY[edit]

As of today, 16986 papers, reports, patents on Ta2O5 have appeared since the year 2000. Another 9000 entries before 2000. So it is very, very difficult to legitimately select primary literature on this material. --Smokefoot (talk) 13:49, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Refractive index[edit]

Wikipedia says 2.275, but from https://refractiveindex.info/?shelf=main&book=Ta2O5&page=Bright-amorphous it seems that it is much higher, around 4 --132.66.39.177 (talk) 09:27, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your ref says n = 2.1306 which is pretty close to what we have. You seem to be looking at the value for relative permittivity, which is a very different property. --Project Osprey (talk) 09:36, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
