Thank you for your comments. Please be advised that:

1. Issuing a Fatwa can be done by a mufti or Marja only, but he is none of them.

2. Returning back to the values of the 1979 Islamic Revolution: He was not a serious supporter for the Islamic revolution before it and after it until the end of life of Ayatollah Khomeini. In fact it is an election propaganda made by partisans of his party to show him being revolutionary clergy, but only after the revolution! His opinions about Islamic state is completely different with the ideas of Ayatollah Khomeini. please see religious democracy.

3. Mohsen Gharavian is correct not the name mentioned in the article.

4. Decisions about use of Nukes is not in the hands of the president in Iran but it is up to decisions of Supreme Leader who is commander-in-chief according to Iranian constitution.

I regret to say that the writer of this article is in political and religious bias.

Hi, Thanks for answering. I'm not disagreeing with you, but in order to meet Wikipedia standards we need to rely on sources conforming with WP:V. If you have cites (preferably in English so readers can refer to them and evaluate) to support what you are saying above, please it to the article so we can achive NPOV on this article.   • He is not introduced as a Marja yet enabling him to issue any fatwa: The best reference for this is his official web site with following address. http://www.mesbahyazdi.org/ There is not any resalah known to be related to him. And since he is mainly a philosopher [1] and not a faqih, it will never become a reality in the future. The word fatwa should not be used to express his ideas.
I can't read in Farsi. However, I found nothing on his English Website stating that he is not trained in Islam. 2+2=5 is false. This person has spent a lifetime on Islam.--Patchouli 19:57, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is no evidence for his involvement in the 1979 Islamic revolution of Iran exept being student in Qom city. No jail, no exile, no torture by SAVAK, no declaration against Shah etc. exist in his biography in his web site.
  • The values of 1979 Islamic revolution: This term is not defined in the article. No body can underestand if it is relates to good things or bad things!

Professor Crocodile[edit]

I think it would be good to give the actual cartoon a place on the page. Here is one site that claims to have the cartoon [1]. Slavery and Agression in Islam[edit]

This reference (#14) to the fact that Ayatollah Mesbah supports slavery and agression in Islam is no longer available (the link cannot be displayed). I have never heard this about him, and it sounds more like something political opponents want to accuse him of. Yes he is a radical fundementalist, but to support slavery would be a huge jump. I deleted the aggreesion part but apparently he has had something to say on slavery.

Section "His Role in 2009 Presidential Election" needs to be rewritten or deleted[edit]

It is ridiculously POV, it contains unsourced claims (like the conspiration against Rafsanjani), and it is written in bad English. --Azazell0 (talk) 01:33, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rewriting[edit]

Have attempted to rewrite parts of the article including the 2009 Presidential Election section, adding citations and deleting unsourced claims and repetition. --BoogaLouie (talk) 22:28, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The text is better now (thanks BoogaLouie), but the sources for this section are still poor. Roozonline, by the looks of it, is an iranian expat website. Furthermore, the text of the Fatwa being quoted says nothing about "manipulating" the results of an election, merely that people shouldn't vote for an "unislamic" candidate. The call for the murder of Mir Hossein Mousavi is also hard to believe. Yazdi isn't a Marja' (source of religious authority in Shi'ite Islam) and therefore *can't* issue a fatwa. Can someone either find a better source for these details or remove them from the text altogether? TheSophy (talk) 06:12, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed an old neutrality tag from this page that appears to have no active discussion per the instructions at Template:POV:
