Are being censored by some wikipedians (AndyTheGrump FreeRangeFrog Evano1van Evano1van), because according to them "sourcing is poor", "its just one incident". And because "its only allegation" despite the fact that:
a) Tarun Tejpal have himself admitted that it took place. b) Have apologized for it. c) Have stepped down from the post of Editor because of that.
But most interesting are edits by Kabik13: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Kabik13
So am I wrong to ask if some in Tehelka are behind some of this censorship ??? Anmol.2k4 (talk) 20:43, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- Read WP:BLP policy. Then read WP:NPA. Then maybe we can discuss this. AndyTheGrump (talk) 20:54, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- AndyTheGrump, I have read it and have followed every rule. Your edits are bizarre. One time you claimed that it was unsourced which is dishonest. In another of your reverts, you claimed I had copy-pasted it even though it was nothing of the sort. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.10.100.75 (talk) 23:48, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- See [1]. And if you violate WP:BLP policy again, I will report the matter, and ask that you be blocked from editing. AndyTheGrump (talk) 03:22, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
- I've seen the version history and am in agreement with AndyTheGrump. Also, given the current interest in this article it would be nice if someone can improve it and add a photo etc. Pranay Da Spyder (talk) 16:56, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

The lady was Tarun Tejpal's employee and according to media reports he threatened her losing her job if she does not accept his advances. And its a case of sexual assault almost commiting to rape according to new Rape law in India and not a simple case of Sexual Harassment as reported by you, So please do these corrections so that world will know the character of this guy and Tehelka as a organisation and their double standards.

- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made.. The source currently in the article writes of sexual harassment, so that is all we can say based on that source. If you have other sources, please identify them. --Stfg (talk) 10:42, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Tarun Tejpal WAS the editor-in-chief at thelka 182.72.99.98 (talk) 11:02, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
- Partly done: he has not resigned, but he has stepped down for six months. I've kept it as is but added the sentence "He stepped down as editor-in-chief for six months beginning in November 2013" to the lede. --Stfg (talk) 12:21, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Nice job
[edit]This article was just brought to my attention on my talk page, and looking through it and Shoma Chaudhury I was quite impressed with how the involved editors have included the coverage, without giving in to sensationalism, or the temptation to cover every new news detail (X was questioned; Y said...; Z's family was approached etc). Nice work! Abecedare (talk) 18:55, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
Tejpal charged with rape by authorities/ victim alleges she was raped by Tejpal
[edit]"Some have questioned the time it took for me to file my complaint, more inquisitive commentators have questioned the use of the word "sexual molestation" versus words like "rape."..." "Perhaps the hardest part of this unrelentingly painful experience has been my struggle with taxonomy. I don't know if I am ready to see myself as a "rape victim", for my colleagues, friends, supporters and critics to see me thus. It is not the victim that categorizes crimes: it is the law. And in this case, the law is clear: what Mr. Tejpal did to me falls within the legal definition of rape." "...We have spoken, time and again, about how rape is not about lust or sex, but about power, privilege and entitlement. Thus this new law should be applicable to everybody - the wealthy, the powerful, and the well connected - and not just to faceless strangers. Full text: Tarun Tejpal raped me, says victim in new statement
Why doesn't this article use a different nomenclature, we could write "That Tejpal is accused by the victim of raping her, citing India's broadened definition of rape" 59.94.210.254 (talk) 04:19, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
Not just the victim, Tejpal has been charged with rape. "...He has been booked under IPC sections including 354-A (sexual harassment, physical contact, advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures, or any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature), 376 (rape) and 376 (2)(k) (rape by a person of a woman in his custody taking advantage of his official position)..."Tehelka case: Tarun Tejpal's judicial custody extended by 12 days Article should make necessary correction.59.94.210.254 (talk) 04:30, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

Add a para in the sub header: Sexual harassment allegation
Many believe that the Indian mainstream media's response to the allegation was irresponsible [2] while the BJP-run state's intervention in the case was deemed unprecedented [3], as the Goa CM Manohar Parrikar, a BJP politician labelled Tejpal a "Congress stooge" [4]. Another politician from the right-wing political party, Sushma Swaraj alleged that the Congress party was supporting Tejpal [5]. In an investigative journalism operation carried out by Tehelka in 2001, the BJP president at the time, Bangaru Laxman, was caught on camera accepting money for recommending a fictitious company West End International to the Indian Army for contracts on hand-held thermal imagers. The sting operation led to the resignation of the then Defense MInister, George Fernandes and in 2012, the conviction of Laxman.

- You mean rape according to the definition of Indian law. In common terms, it's still sexual assault. We write for a global audience so a more accurate way would be "He was charged with sexual assault" but "this falls under rape per Indian law" which is too much focus on this incident in an article about a living person. Please, keep it simple. Sincerely, Ugog Nizdast (talk) 08:43, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
