Hello! I am employed by TaskUs and hope to work with the community to update and expand this Wikipedia entry. The company's work has grown significantly; not much of it is reflected in the article. My suggested edits are substantial: introducing additional sections to organize the existing content as well as adding new information. I am posting a suggested version of the entire article below. TaskUs is an outsourcing company that handles content moderation, customer experience,artificial intelligence, operations and risk & response services for companies around the world,[1] including Facebook and DoorDash. TaskUs was founded by Bryce Maddock and Jaspar Weir, best friends since high school,[2] in 2008 in Santa Monica, California.[3] The two had co-founded other companies before starting TaskUs.[4] The company was originally conceived as a task-based virtual assistant platform for start-ups,[5] based in the Philippines. Conversation with potential clients indicated a need for more comprehensive support and TaskUs modified their model accordingly.[3][6] Early funding included $15 million from Navegar, a private equity fund in the Philippines, and a $14 million loan from Bridge Bank. The Blackstone Group invested $250 million in 2018.[3][7][8] The company had its initial public offering in June 2021; it is traded on NASDAQ as Nasdaq: TASK. Approximately 30% of the company's revenue is from providing content moderation for Facebook, and about 12% is from DoorDash.[9][10][11][12] TaskUs was originally structured as a limited liability company. This meant that it distributed phantom stock to employees before its 2021 IPO.[13] In 2022, a class-action lawsuit was brought against TaskUs for a data breach they did not bring to the attention of customers.[14] That same year, the company was also accused of improper revenue disclosure and lack of clarity regarding its work with Facebook.[15] Several components of the claim were dismissed by a New York federal judge.[16] TaskUs moved to dismiss this claim against them in February 2023.[17] The company moved its headquarters to San Antonio, Texas in 2017, then to New Braunfels, Texas in 2018. [18] Its revenue for the first quarter of 2024 was $227.5 million.[19] The company employs a total of 47,000 employees in 13 locations;[20] the company's principal operations are in the Philippines.[7][21][22][23] Customers include Coinbase (beginning in 2017), Netflix, Zoom (beginning in 2020), Whisper, Tinder, AutoDesk, and Uber (beginning in 2013).[3][7][24] TaskUs's model has the company assuming full function for their clients, like customer service, content moderation, photo editing, and more. Close to half of TaskUs staff are embedded as part of client customer service teams.[25] TaskUs uses the Net Promoter Score (NPS) to gauge and maintain company culture, including office environments designed by employees.[26][27] Employee satisfaction surveys are circulated four times a year.[28] The company’s offices around the world use “themed offices,” open floor plans, and fitness centers to attract and maintain employees.[29] In 2015, TaskUs Philippines began offering academic scholarships for children of employees, the TaskUs Scholars program.[30] In April 2022, TaskUs made its first acquisition after going public by buying heloo, the Croatia-based digital customer service provider.[1] In 2023, TaskUs introduced an AI platform, TaskGPT.[20] TaskUs is a financial supporter of the first fixed-price virtual power purchase contract.[31] In early 2024, the company introduced AssistAI for customer service.[32] Maddock and Weir were named on Inc Magazine's '30 under 30' list.[4] In 2017, Entrepreneur Magazine listed TaskUs as #3 on their Entrepreneur 360 list.[33] In 2019, Maddock and Weir were named Entrepreneurs of the Year by Ernst & Young.[34] In 2022, TaskUs was named North America Company of the Year by Frost & Sullivan.[35] References
