Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Taungoo. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Betel nut claim

[edit]

As far as I can find, the only early source about the saying about betel nut lovers and trips is sourced from a Lonely Planet book cited on the betel nut chewing page (Betel nut chewing#cite note-31). This citation was added in 2012 (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Betel_nut_chewing&oldid=487799822), however the claim itself in that article is much older and dates back to user Wagaung in this edit https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Betel_nut_chewing&oldid=105189461. in 2007. However, I am unable to obtain a copy of the Lonely Planet book to verify whether or not this is an actual citation, or whether or not this saying "betel lover winning a trip to Taungoo" even exists. I added a citation needed tag to the claim last year, but is anyone able to verify whether or not this saying actually exists? LawfulInsane (talk) 17:19, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The specific saying about "winning a trip" seems dubious enough I would recommend removing it, but the rest of the claim appears fine; Betel nuts are popular in Myanmar and associated with the Taungoo area. Walsh90210 (talk) 17:24, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
