Austers in WW2

[edit]

What kind of Auster is shown here, being unloaded from a Douglas Dakota in Borneo in 1945? [1] The captions says "LABUAN, NORTH BORNEO. 1945-08-07. AN AUSTER AIRCRAFT OF NO. 16 AIR OBSERVATION POST FLIGHT RAAF BEING UNLOADED FROM A DOUGLAS C47 DAKOTA TRANSPORT. THESE MIGHTY MIDGETS OF THE RAAF HAVE SERVED THE AIF SO NOBLY IN NEW GUINEA AND BORNEO THAT THE DIGGERS HAVE NICKNAMED THEM THE "RAIF"." Thanks. 86.133.48.120 (talk) 13:49, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
