In 2017 they are calling UK numbers claiming to be from British Telecomms technical support

They claim to have detected dangerous internet hacking (using netstat and eventvwr to 'prove' it) on your broadband connection. If asked to confirm my BT account number they instead use the assoc/CLSID list to 'prove' they are from BT "as only BT knows my CLSID". They try to get you to load teamviewer software. They can be very persistent, even after I hung up on them a few times. Caller ID can show a local number or international. Sad that BT can't block the calls somehow. - Rod57 (talk) 16:28, 6 December 2017 (UTC)

I just had one of these called, myself. Is there any way we can add links to ways to deal with this sort of thing … ?
