Origin Of The Calls

The text does not mention the country of origin of these calls. From what I have seen all over the internet, the callers have an indian accent. Some have been traced back to India and some to Pakistan. The reason for this is probably because of a lack of job opportunity in those countries and poverty. There are probably other countries involved in this kind of work as well, such as Nigeria, which is a name that comes up often. So, I will be adding this to the text. I think some people might find this racist, however, I think it is factual. If you disagree with me, let me know. Vmelkon (talk) 00:48, 21 March 2020 (UTC)

I was wondering the same thing, it is clear that the majority of the tech scamming calls originate in India yet there is no mention of this. It is a good idea to add this information as it is pertinent to the issue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 133.175.178.17 (talk) 01:22, 3 August 2020 (UTC)

FYI it actually was mentioned in the lead but was removed by an IP who claimed it was obsolete which is weird given it is sourced. I have reinstated it. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 01:48, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
