Streetcar vs. Trolley

Noting that a thread on a large Facebook group today (Feb 20/2016) urged people to change "Tempe Streetcar" to "Tempe Trolley" on the wikipedia page as a way of demonstrating their dislike of local development. It may well be worth adding discussion of these relative names, if there's been official public debate about this, but I think this should be transparently discussed in the article rather than subject to an edit war. That's helpful to know. It is against Wikipedia policy WP:MEAT to coordinate editing outside of Wikipedia, especially for disruptive purposes. However, any discussion of the naming controversy on Wikipedia is going to require reliable secondary sources. You haven't even provided a link to the Facebook group. We would not be able to consider the group as a reliable source because it is simply a user forum. We would be looking for things like newspaper articles. Thank you. Yups, agreed (and thanks for the WP:MEAT reference - I haven't edited here in so long I forgot it was in writing! I agree on the controversy needing official sources before including (hence my original comment suggesting only adding it if there's been "official public debate")... Thanks, that is indeed helpful to know. I reverted the changes from earlier, but was unaware when I did so. I was unable to find the group or page where this discussion is occurring. If I'm honest, the terms "streetcar", "tram" and "trolley" are very nearly interchangeable in 2016 from a technical point of view. The vehicles designs have merged to become similar, if not identical over the last 25 years, as noted on the pages for both Trolley and Tram. I'll continue to watch the page for further changes. I think a lot of this is because people are resistant to change. While I could see why (I personally think it should have branched out more), it is only natural that they would want to vent their frustrations here. @Elizium23: Here is the Facebook link they mentioned above. Marina Heights

I was planning on creating the page for Marina Heights, however I'd like to get some feedback before I do. Marina Heights is also a fairly large property development for Tempe, with both office and retail space in the project.

I was considering creating a page for the project itself, and simply adding in a section to reflect that it also acts as one of the termini points for the streetcar project, however this would mean it doesn't share the consistency of the other pages for VMR stations or transit centers, like the page for Dorsey Lane. I'd just like to see if there is any opposition to structuring the page like this, before I do so. InfiniteFifty (talk) 05:14, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

Go for it, although I held back on the stations or anything big since we don't have names on them yet, and half of them still need approval from Council. I think you could easily create a page for the development and work on the station later, as I would assume it would use the "(VMR station)" thing on the end, based on discussions that I have had with people on the project, but I am not completely sure that that would be the way to go.
