In the Wikipedia page about C++Ox, I find this occurence of 'temporary' (used as a noun) in this sentence :

In C++03, temporaries (termed "rvalues", as they often lie on the right side of an assignment) are indistinguishable from const T& types.

This use of the noun 'temporary' seems quite usual in computer sciences, but quite different from the meaning described in this page. Perhaps it would be nice to write a special page about this meaning of the noun 'temporary' ? Don't you think so ? Ptyxs (talk) 18:27, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This article does not cite any references or sources: I would remove this banner, because the "temporary variable" concept is a common knowledge in the profession. There is no formal definition anywhere, so it is impossible to provide reference or source for it. Still, the article is useful for beginners. Notinlist (talk) 10:03, 18 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with some better written page

[edit]

Or add more see also links. But I don't have ideas what exactly should be merged. Ushkin N (talk) 17:31, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Seems reasonable for now because Category:Variable (computer science) was the only category at Temporary variable. Ushkin N (talk) 17:37, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
