This article is written in American English, which has its own spelling conventions (color, defense, traveled) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

Am I reading this right[edit]

A part of the article dealing with Ford's alcohlism states "Betty Ford's substance-abuse death in 1989." This is his wife, right? Later it says that his wife Beverly died in 2001. What's up? Unrelated issue: I noticed that it refers to Ford's parents as "the former Maud Long and Clarence Thomas Ford." Isn't the usual format "Maud Ford nee Long" or Maud (Long) Ford? See the wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Married_and_maiden_names for reference. "The former Maud Long" sounds weird, as if she turned into a pod person or something. Response to first issue: according to a different source (imdb), Mr. Ford had two spouses: Betty, who died in 1989, and Beverly, to whom Mr. Ford was married at the time of his death. If correct, this would explain the text in the article. Assuming that the information from imdb is accurate, I think that the wording in the article could be slightly modified to make this clear. Second Wife[edit]

African American?[edit]

This page has the tag "African-American Aviators." Nowhere in the article does it refer to his African heritage. I haven't looked far, but I don't see any mention of it in readily available info online. Can anyone confirm this? Otherwise I'm going to remove it in a week or so.
