Prakrit and Apabramsha[edit]
I removed this text: "The vernaculars that were still considered a "lower" variant of Sanskrit were called Prakrit. The vernaculars that had become too far removed from Sanskrit to be considered as variants of the same language became referred to as Apabhramsha." because it conflicts with a number of articles and sources I have read. Specifically Middle Indo-Aryan languages which more closely aligns with the sources I have read. Various scholars vary in their use of the terms but nowhere is the distinction so neat as the quote here implies. It would be convenient in a way, but alas, no. Therefore I'm also concerned about the rest of the content of the article. It's quite an interesting topic. - Taxman Talk 13:50, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Better sources[edit]
It's ironic that Sanskrit#Decline is better-cited than this "main article". Can someone copy over the stuff from there, at least? Shreevatsa (talk) 23:59, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
