"Sightings" section removed[edit]

Removed the following content:-

The last occasion that Test Card W was broadcast on BBC One and BBC Two was Friday 9 January 2004. The times before that were for a few minutes on 3 December 2003 on BBC Two during the 2003 tests; seen for around 20 minutes during Pages from Ceefax time from about 02.20 on 22 June 2003; a brief appearance in the early in the morning of 14 August 2001 in a programme gap; on BBC One between 03.00 and 04.00 on 27 July 2001 (while BBC Two was on reduced power); and during the August 2000 BBC rebroadcast test. Test Card W flashed up briefly on BBC One early in the morning of Tuesday 3 November 2009 during the opening credits to BBC Breakfast.

The reason is that the opening bit "The last occasion that Test Card W was broadcast..." was originally written in 2004 ([1]), and may be massively and meaninglessly out of date by now! I could have added "As of 2004" to make this less misleading, but it still wouldn't have been useful almost ten years down the line. If it hasn't been broadcast since then, it should be updated and clearly referenced.

Which brings me to the other reason it was deleted- no references for those alleged sightings, and no indication as to whether it was a complete list (omitting that may give a misleading impression of the frequency of transmission). Wikipedia isn't the place for arbitrary mentions of transmissions for trainspotterish reasons(!) Ubcule (talk) 20:42, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
