Request Change of Name[edit]

This battle should be regarded as the First Battle of Cholon/Phu Tho Racetrack, or alternatively merged with the Battle of Saigon. The name is very long-winded and less detailed, given that it has a more colloquial name User talk:a_bicyclette

Oppose. Tet Offensive clearly dates it time-wise and as part of the Tet Offensive. If I decide to create a separate page for the May Offensive Battle of Cholon that is exactly what that page will be named, similarly dating it time-wise and as part of the May Offensive. Merger into Battle of Saigon (1968) is not feasible as there were multiple separate battles around Saigon during the Tet Offensive and this and each other WP:RS'ed battle each warrants its own page. The fighting at Phu Tho Racetrack is widely referenced in numerous WP:RS. Mztourist (talk) 07:54, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The Tet Offensive was multi-staged, not just one thing. There were two seperate battles in Cholon, including May. This is generally a bad title anyways as it isn't standalone named, there is no need to clarify its the "Tet Offensive Battle" User talk:a_bicyclette
The Tet Offensive took place at Tet (January/February 1968), the May Offensive, sometimes called mini-Tet took place in May, while the Phase III Offensive aka August or Third Offensive took place in August. While COSVN may have planned them as multiple stages of the same offensive they are dealt with separately with each having its own page here on Wikipedia.Mztourist (talk) 08:08, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting Merger With The Battle of Saigon[edit]

Oppose distinct battle warranting its own page. Merger would result in one overlong and confusing page. No reasons given for proposed merger. This is part of attempts by User:A bicyclette (currently blocked indef) to minimise US/ARVN victories and done in retaliation for my AfD of Battle of the Slopes an unnecessary fork of Battle of Dak To. Interestingly A bicyclette himself had prepared a draft of the Battle of Cholon! Mztourist (talk) 06:22, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
