Bot report : Found duplicate references ![edit]

In the last revision I edited, I found duplicate named references, i.e. references sharing the same name, but not having the same content. Please check them, as I am not able to fix them automatically :)

Vandalism of the uniforms[edit]

Please stop changing the uniforms based on personal preference. This not a Fan Page. This is a Wikipedia page for a NCAA Div football team. That being said, we are trying to make ALL of the Div I teams' Wiki-pages consistent. If someone feels it should be changed, then please state your argument on the discussion page FIRST. Thank you.

I did not make the change but let me ask you a few questions. First, how is it vandalism? The uniform image that Elred (talk · contribs) made was actually up first and you changed it. So, is it not you who made a change based on personal preference? Wikipedia pages only have to be consistent up to the point that WP:MOS dictates. Can you show us where the uniform issue is addressed? As for "Wikipedia NFL/AFL/NCAA Uniforms Creator/Maintainer", is this an official Wikipedia position? Were you elected? Appointed?       • How is the Texas Tech Red Raiders football any different from every other NCAA Div I football wiki-page or the NFL's team Wiki-pages? Please explain how these images are working perfectly for the Big Ten, ACC, SEC, Big East, the entire NFL, and the rest of the Big 12? It's all about being 100% consistent......that's all. If the majority want Texas Tech to be different and special, well then majority rules. Otherwise, I can't see a justification to break the consistency.

This is a nice title you've given yourself. I think therein lies our problem. I was more than happy to use your template so we'd match the other pages you're working on, but I corrected it since I'm SURE I know a lot more about TTU's uniforms than you do. You didn't like that, so you deleted my edit, deleted my cordial message to you on your page, called me a vandal, and came in here to rant about it. When you call me a vandal, it might serve you to know that Wordbuilder and I have probably spent 100+ hours each working on the TTU pages (and we got the main page to Featured Article). I am also a graphic artist, so the image you replaced is a transparent background, textured, anti-aliased version that was made specifically to be located inside that infobox. You replaced it with a generic, cookie-cutter uniform outline. I know it is not anti-aliased specifically so it can be recolored for each team with about 4 mouse clicks.

        • You are acting pretty childish. Obviously there's zero point in discussing this with you. I still do not comprehend why TTU has to be completely different from every other NCAA Div I football team and NFL Wiki-pages. All we were trying to do is make them all 100% consistent, and NOT make them look like a Fan Page. As far as your rude and unprofessional remarks ("generic, cookie-cutter") concerning the uniforms Silent Wind of Doom, Pats1, and myself have been working on for the past two years, you are way off. We have received nothing but compliments for Wiki-users and organizations such as the Detroit Lions', the New England Patriots', and the St Louis Rams' Public Relations offices. The uniforms are purposely made a certain way so they can easy be changed whenever a team adjusts their uniforms and/or add anniversary patches. We have dedicated ourselves to giving a Wiki-user visiting a certain team the most accurate yet simple specifications possible (to include all possible uniform combinations) for them to enjoy. It's too bad to are so die-hard in making the TTU Wiki-page uniforms so drastically different from the rest of the NCAA and the NFL. We will continue to make TTU uniforms, but obviosuly you two do what you two want with this page. Again, it is a shame that the Elred/Wordbuilder's TTU Wiki-page cannot be consistent.

I find your calling me childish to be the height of irony. I may revisit this issue at another time and take a look at using your format and re-coloring it in order make it accurate. I did do that, of course, initially and you called it vandalism. If you remember, I just recolored the template you used to be more accurate and changed the numbers. You deleted that edit, deleted the evidence of my attempt to discuss it with you, then called me a vandal.
Also, MC Hammer, the Knights Templar, and the skeleton of Abraham Lincoln called me to thank me for my work on the uniforms, so my accolades are just a little bit better than yours. ...no big deal.--Elred (talk) 16:09, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Johnny, just to keep a tab, you've called me directly a "vandal", "childish", "rude", and "unprofessional". I referred to your templates as "generic" and "cookie-cutter" which are, more or less, synonyms for the word "template". [outdent] JohnnySeoul (talk · contribs), you did not do anyone any favors by accusing Elred (talk · contribs) of vandalism when his edit was clearly good-faith and predated yours. I recommend reading WP:AFG and WP:VANDAL. I do not think of "cookie cutter" as an insult in this instance; just an indication that something is a bit generic to make it more usable to the masses (i.e. "simple specifications possible (to include all possible uniform combinations)"). Wikipedia only has to be uniform inasmuch as policy and guidelines dicate. For instance, there is nothing to say that a university article has to have a picture of the administration building, one dorm, and a fountain if one is present on campus, and those pictures must be situated right, left, right, left, etc. What may be fine for one article is different than what is fine for the next. I appreciate your hard work on creating the uniforms for the various articles. Splitting "History" to History of Texas Tech Red Raiders football[edit]

One of the better college football program articles is Iowa Hawkeyes football. Their history section has a main article (History of Iowa Hawkeyes football) that's similar in size to the history section on this article. Although it's not as well organized, Ohio State Buckeyes football has its own history article also (although it's much longer than Iowa's). I think that with a good summary like Iowa's, a separate history article would help this page as well. NThomas (talk) 18:16, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, if it does happen, expansion of the other section would have to happen first and they would probably have to be pretty substantial expansions at that. I think every section can be expanded to something similar in size to the head coaches section. There's enough sources out there to cover all of the information, most of which is already scattered around Wikipedia (Goin' Band, the mascots, Jones AT&T Stadium, etc.). Splitting "Player accomplishments" to List of Texas Tech Red Raiders football honorees[edit]

After seeing List of Maryland Terrapins football honorees, I think replicating the Individual honors section on the Maryland Terrapins football article. That way information like All-Conference, Player Awards, Coaches awards, Texas Tech Hall of Fame, etc. and consolidation of List of Texas Tech Red Raiders All-Americans into an "honorees" article.
