Expansion and Cleanup[edit]

As part of my ongoing geology of Mars project, I'd like to clean up and slightly expand this article. Any comments are welcome. Schaffman (talk) 12:30, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In process of finishing and cleaning up geology section. Should be done today or tomorrow. Schaffman (talk) 16:12, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dark Slope Streaks[edit]

I don't understand why this topic seems to be in so many articles that focus only on a specific feature or location on Mars. Slope streaks are ubiquitous on Mars, so they warrant their own article. More importantly, I strongly object to the following language: "...Several ideas have been advanced to explain [slope streaks]. Some involve water or even the growth of organisms[19][20]. The most exciting thing about dark streaks is that they are currently forming today."

The statement about the growth of organisms does not have a checkable reference and seems sensational. Organisms are not mentioned in reference 9, and reference 10 is not a published source (at least as cited). Also, saying that the most exciting thing about...is an opinion, not a fact.

I recommend deleting the whole section. Schaffman (talk) 22:08, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
