The Apple Tree (anthology)The Birds and Other Stories – Recent British and American publications use the proposed title. Even if it is not the title of the anthology's first publication, the title has been commonly used. Perhaps we should attract readers rather than restrict ourselves to our own editing. • Support any title with (Daphne du Maurier ..) Both the titles are ambiguous. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:22, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Are there any other topics titled The Birds and Other Stories? --George Ho (talk) 02:18, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - per the nomination, the newer title seems to be the most common name for the work. Not sure why we would need any parenthetical disambiguation here, so I guess I would oppose that suggestion.--Yaksar (let's chat) 04:02, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

These three books do not include the same set of stories[edit]

I have copies of all three of the books described in this article as different editions of the same book, (1) The Apple Tree …a short novel & several long stories (© 1952; V. Gollancz, 1952), (2) The Birds and Other Stories (© 1952; First Little, Brown ebook edition: December 2013, E3), and (3) Kiss Me Again, Stranger: A Collection of Eight Stories, Long and Short (© 1952; Doubleday & Company, Inc, 1953). While the first two have the same stories, albeit in a different order, the third has two additional stories, "The Split Second" and "No Motive".

The Apple Tree …a short novel & several long stories has six stories, in the following order: Monte Verità; The Birds; The Apple Tree; The Little Photographer; Kiss Me Again, Stranger; and The Old Man.

The Birds and Other Stories has six stories, in the following order: The Birds; Monte Verità; The Apple Tree; The Little Photographer; Kiss Me Again, Stranger; and The Old Man.

Kiss Me Again, Stranger: A Collection of Eight Stories, Long and Short has eight stories, in the following order: Kiss Me Again, Stranger; The Birds; The Little Photographer; Monte Verità; The Apple Tree; The Old Man; The Split Second; and No Motive. The Daphne du Maurier website also lists this collection as including "two short stories that are not in The Apple Tree", although it does not name them (see: [1]).

I'm not sure if looking at the table of contents of published books being discussed is considered "original research," but do think that the article should reflect these differences. 24.20.217.112 (talk) 02:38, 11 July 2016 (UTC) 24.20.217.112 (talk) 03:33, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I have made some changes to the article to make that clearer. MichaelMaggs (talk) 12:28, 25 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
