The result of the move request was: Moved to The Black (American band). (closed by non-admin page mover) SITH (talk) 11:56, 23 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Black → ? – Clearly not suitable as a "primary topic"; the band's article gets significantly less views than The Black (Asking Alexandria album), for example. But is The Black (band) sufficient, or does it need to be The Black (American band) to disambiguate with Black (Bangladeshi band)? PC78 (talk) 08:58, 16 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • They are combined on disambiguation pages, but are different for article titles, for example 1975 and The 1975. Plurals often share a disambiguation page with the singular form, but that doesn't make Queen (band) and Queens (group) the same. "The Black (band)" can only possibly refer to this - it only has to be disambiguated from other topics with the same title, not topics with similar titles just because they could appear on the same disambiguation page. Requested move 19 March 2024[edit]

– unambiguous, due to "The". WP:SMALLDETAILS 162 etc. (talk) 04:43, 18 March 2024 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). 162 etc. (talk) 16:36, 19 March 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Natg 19 (talk) 17:52, 27 March 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Polyamorph (talk) 10:26, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • The absence of "The" generally doesn't distinguish as the absence of a modifier doesn't generally indicat a distinct topic. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:36, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    Of course it does. Crow/The Crow, Purge/The Purge, Room/The Room, I could go on. 162 etc. (talk) 21:42, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Those are generic v media (and similar) with base name titles, its often obvious the different between "The" being part of the name or not. Here we are talking about incomplete disambiguation and bands of which could easily be called with or without "The". Along the same lines the 1st one might also not be a good idea as the presence may not even distinguish. Crouch, Swale (talk) 22:14, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see any evidence of this in reliable sources. 162 etc. (talk) 16:40, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Regardless, this is controversial as it was discussed on an RM previously. So a new RM will be required. Bensci54 (talk) 12:29, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll note that the previous RM was about moving the article away from The Black, which is valid. 162 etc. (talk) 16:38, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose as mentioned "The" is generally interchangeable unlike The Wörld Is Yours where someone using the diacritic could only be looking for that distinct topic. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:23, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom.--Ortizesp (talk) 12:59, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Clearly ambiguous. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:53, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nomination. I don't see any reason to oppose and the two pages can be easily identified.-- Abyan Malek (talk) 22:14, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Relisting comment: Relisting as there is currently no consensus Polyamorph (talk) 10:26, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Current titles achieve clear disambiguation'. Cfls (talk) 01:06, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support The Bangladeshi band seems to be the primary topic here. [1], [2], [3]. These are the coverage found from only the last one year for the Bangladeshi band while coverage for the American band is totally missing even if I go for last 10 years.
