I put a few artists in red links because they already have a number of links in other articles, so it is hoped that the links will become blue one day. Michael Bednarek (talk) 13:17, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LuLing / Ruth

[edit]

This is a nice start. The recurrent characters are better characterized as a trio, just as they introduce themselves in the opera's prologue. LuLing is portrayed at different times by two different singers--either separately or in tandem--representing her at different ages; but she is still one character. That's how I understood the sources I read. Unfortunately, this is almost impossible to convey in a simple "List of Roles" because those two roles also have the surname Young; this then results in a potentially confusing role description where the reader is asked to distinguish between "Young" (the name) and "young" (the adjective).
It would be great if the article could be expanded with an explanation of this work's ideas. Michael Bednarek (talk) 03:15, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I changed the plot synopsis and clarified the dual roles of the lead mezzo, in the table. See what you think.Meticuliz (talk) 01:11, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
