Fresh Meat

Anyone notice how the list of Fresh Meat contestants doesn't change in order? It's obvious that someone knows the order already and just made the list in the final order of contestants. You could have been a bit more conspicuous.

I don't understand what you mean by that Twentyboy 22:28, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

it's just in alphabetical order by first name. and the fresh meat table on this page happened a few years ago. its not fresh meat 2. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dannyexpo (talkcontribs) 17:32, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Paranoia

I thought that the list for fresh meat was made by someone who knew the order also, but in the end they got it wrong and had to change it. On this season of the challenge, it was very easy to predict who was going home and when. Everyone pretty much went home in logical order.

what the heck

who deleted all the seasons after BOTS 2?

I just reverted it back, and if any changes are made like this again, I'll submit it to be locked. Pandaki 02:24, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Don't do that, because its not fair to the people who know people and have information they like to submit.

"People who know people" shouldn't be posting spoiler information anyways. Also, deleteing all of the recent seasons has nothing to do with "people who know people." CaptainP 23:20, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes, someone deleted the bottom of Inferno III and all of Fresh Meat II. I'm fairly new at Wikipedia, so does anyone know how to revert it back without deleting the fabulous chart someone made for Gauntlet II? CaptainP 19:16, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Seperating These Pages

Face it, this page is getting into 80+ kilobytes zone, and with Inferno III and Fresh Meat II coming up, it's probably necessary to seperate these into their own 15+ pages and have a little succession box simply going in chronological order. Anyone agree? Anom8trw8 04:05, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

No they don't. Its fine. Also the need to list source of information and confirmation.

Inferno 3

Inferno3 seems to be the first challenge where everybody minus Susie and Dan are post 2000.

THANK YOU FOR THE NEWEST EDIT TO A CHALLENGE

I was going to do it my self after looking at Tubescan.com but I didnt know how you do the colors and separation so I decided against it. Thanks though.

Inferno 3 Rules/rumored cast

This challenge the rules are based on Veterans/Rookies. The teams were designated Old School (Veterans) and New School (Rookies), based on the number of challenges each cast member has been on. Those on the Veterans' team had been on at least two challenges, and those on the Rookies' team have been on fewer than two challenges prior to Inferno 3. For this challenge, a male and female captain will be determined at the beginning of the show based on physical prowess. After each team challenge, the losing team captain would be sent to the Gauntlet, with each match alternating between male and females. Each Inferno participant’s team would choose an opponent. Also, after this is done, a second challenge will be done where and Immunity Lifesave can be won.

Okay, what I see is "rumored". Sorry, but I am going by what it says directly on the casting website (which stats Fresh Meat II, no Inferno III), not on a (barely) secondary source with rumored information.

Split the article into seasons?

This article is a bit long, and I think each season should have its own article, just like similar competition reality shows. Milchama 01:48, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

  • If it does, it needs a template, that way it's easier to navigate to season to season.--andrew|ellipsed...Speak 04:41, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
I'll gladly do it but we have to decide...template or succession (like the things they put on music singles) Anom8trw8 23:01, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Please do not add the new season to the "Cast members appearing on the most Challenges" section under specific cast-members' names. Currently the only cited source for that information is the vevmo.com forum and photo. See WP:SPS; a forum is not an acceptable source, and should never be used as a third-party source about living persons.
If you would like to add information about the cast of the new season, please cite a reliable source, preferably from the production company (Bunim/Murray) or the TV channel (MTV). Other examples of reliable sources are the Internet Movie Database or TV.com page about the new season.
--Latish redone (formerly All in) (talk) 03:41, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
I didn't add what you are saying to the article so I am confused. I posted what you see here (two relevant links.) Take a moment to look at the IP Addresses involved before making baseless accusations. Thanks. BTW: Self-published material may, in some circumstances, be acceptable when produced by an established expert on the topic. In this circumstance vevmo.com is the expert in this genre. However, I am not going to waste my personal time arguing that fact. That is why I posted a link to unimpeachable inside production evidence (a photo) and will let wikipedians decide the next step.Zredsox (talk)
To 64.89.250.90, this is not your page, this is the page for the article "Real World/Road Rules Challenge". My message above is intended for everyone that edits the page, it was not addressed to any specific editor. Therefore, please do not accuse me of making "baseless accusations" because I have not done such.
Also, in your quote above you left out "[when produced by an established expert on the topic] ...of the article whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable third-party publications." The other relevant part of the policy says, "Self-published sources should never be used as third-party sources about living persons, even if the author is a well-known professional researcher or writer; see WP:BLP#Reliable sources." Therefore, the vevmo.com and tv.com forums cannot be used on Wikipedia to support the claims about who is participating in this season. Feel free to believe in what they say in the forums; perhaps the information from those sources is true, but Wikipedia will not accept it.
--Latish redone (formerly All in) (talk) 01:11, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia accepts SPS all the time. A majority of Wikipedia articles (and just about all of them in this genre) are unsourced. So not only does Wikipedia accept Self Published Sources, most articles don't even use sources. What sources is this article using now? It looks like the community has it under control. It is not a question of believing the source. It is an established fact with a photo to prove it. As for the comments, it is general practice on the Internet that when you indent a comment you are replying to the comment above. Sorry for my misinterpretation of your motives. Zredsox (talk)03:32, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, Wikipedia may accept SPS "all the time", but most of the time it is about a subject that can easily be verified without any SPS. As for what sources this article is using, the show itself is one of the main sources. And the community definitely doesn't have the RW/RR articles under control; look at the history of any RW/RR article and you will see many unregistered users, and registered users who don't use Wikipedia very much, which hints at their lack of understanding of Wikipedia content policies. WP:V says, "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth—that is, whether readers are able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether we think it is true." (emphasis copied from source) If what you're saying about the new season is an "established fact" then people should be able to find reliable sources saying that it is. Until then it is not an "established fact". A web forum is not a reliable source. Reliable sources have "a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy." (see WP:SOURCES) Vevmo.com doesn't even have a Wikipedia article; it is highly unlikely that they have a reputation for accuracy.
--Latish redone (formerly All in) (talk) 05:34, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
"then people should be able to find reliable sources saying that it is" - It is called "flash photography." If you look at the top of this discussion you should see a link to a picture of the complete cast. I think people can easily click on the link provided to verify with their own eyes the cast of the next challenge. This is not an issue of interpretation as the photo looks the same no matter the computer your are using or context. Would the same picture be more accurate if it was in the The New York Times? From you logic you would probably say yes, but the reality is it would be the very same picture. Vevmo does have a reputation for accuracy in this genre with many former Real World houseguests as well as agents and industry insiders as members. Their announcement of The Real World Hollywood cast back in December 07 was the de facto source that was picked up by all outlets reporting the story including Reality Blurred, BuddyTV,USA Today and Wikipedia - even though MTV did not officially release the cast for another 4 months.
BTW: I agree. Someone should create a Wikipedia article on Vevmo.Zredsox (talk) 13:52, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
If you are trusting photos that easily then you have a lot to learn about how people can modify photos or simply use them to mislead. The photo is not a source on its own; if you simply show that photo to someone it is highly unlikely that they will be able to tell you what is shown in the photo. So, we are not discussing the verifiability of the photo itself (it is not verifiable). The source that is being discussed is not the photo itself, but what is said about the photo. So, what is being shown in this photo? That's where right now you're relying on Vevmo. You're relying on what they say about the photo; you are saying that the photo is a photo of the cast at the challenge location, because Vevmo says that the photo is a photo of the cast at the challenge location. That's where the reliability and verifiability of Vevmo comes in. Vevmo, as a forum, is not a reliable source; we have no way of knowing that the photo published by Vevmo is actually the cast at the location as they are claiming - it could easily be a bunch of cast-member look-alikes on some set that looks like a RW/RR Challenge house. In your example about the New York Times, if they wanted to publish the photo then they would probably try to make sure that the photo is actually what it claims to be - that's what makes the source reliable, the "reputation for fact-checking" as described above. --Latish redone (formerly All in) (talk) 17:25, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
That is where you are wrong. I am not relying on Vevmo to tell me what is in the picture (although they do a good job of stating the obvious.) I know what the cast members look like. I have seen them on TV. [T]he show itself is one of the main sources in this circumstance. If you wanted me to source each cast member in the picture to their profiles on MTV.com I could do that (if we wanted to dispense with the semantics.) It is not like we are talking about random unknown people. They have all been on cable television shows and are easily recognizable to people who 1.) Watch those shows 2.) Are in the industry. If you honestly believe that someone took the time to cast and dress up 20 RW/RR look-a-looks for a photo about a 3rd rate reality show, I don't think we are going to make any more progress on this subject.Zredsox (talk) 17:53, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
This is all TV.com currently has: http://www.tv.com/the-real-world---road-rules-challenge/show/11492/real-world-road-rules-escape-from-ghost-island/topic/6331-1104270/msgs.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=forumsh&tag=board_topics;title;0 They use vevmo as a source.Zredsox (talk) 18:19, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

AFD 16th Challenge

The Next challenge (16th) should remain in place on the page until the AFD discussion is complete on the subject. If the 16th Challenge page is removed, then the reference can be removed. If the page remains, obviously the reference should remain. Please do not alter until a consensus is reached. Thanks. Zredsox (talk) 14:30, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Please state clearly what you are referring to here so that editors who read this page will know what you are talking about. Are you referring to the AFD about Real World/Road Rules Challenge (season 16) or the AFD about Vevmo? I did not remove the Vevmo reference; it was removed by User:RegenerateThis, who said "From some kind of blog or rumor site." It is bad practice to revert RegenerateThis' edit by using the WP:UNDO function without explaining why you have reverted it.
In any instance please stop restoring the extended table info about the cast who have appeared on the most seasons. That table extension was added by a contributor who does not have a history of good edits, as shown by his talk page at User_talk:Teletubbieboy26. The table as I have written it is the version agreed upon by me and the contributors that have a good editing history. As I said in the edit summary, the table of cast members appearing on the most Challenges is the least important section of the article, and extending that table only made that least important section bigger compared to the rest of the article.

List of winners

I think a list of all the winners is something that's missing from this article. If we're to have a list of how many challenges they've all competed in, you'd think all the winners could be listed. Could someone work on that. I don't know how to find out all the winners of a Challenge. 65.31.103.28 (talk) 07:34, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

If someone would be willing to direct me to a link with all the winners of Challenges, I'd like to work on that. By the way, I've already gone to the links to the various Challenges there are and they aren't very clear on the exact winners so I can't use that. 65.31.103.28 (talk) 17:31, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

First appearances table

Looking at the last revert of one of my edits, it appears someone feels strongly about the ordering of the "first appearances" table. It appears the rationale is that they should be in order of "most additional challenges"? So, that puts Kenny at the top, but what about the others with three challenges each? Thanks! Plastikspork (talk) 20:29, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

The others could be arranged in alphabetical order if it makes it easier to read. My only objection was to the entire chart being arranged in alphabetical order 65.31.103.28 (talk) 20:31, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

I will let you do it, to keep from being continuously reverted. Thanks! Plastikspork (talk) 20:34, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

It's not something that matters to me. You brought up the issue that this concerns you so you should make the edit. I have only made two reversions on this page recently, one of which was because your reversion of my information was on basis that the other tables were in order alphabetically which wasn't really true. I made a second reversion to one of your edits, but put it back directly after as I saw "The" was in each of the links. Again, feel free to alphabetize that information but it's not something I'm going to do. 65.31.103.28 (talk) 20:52, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Road Rules All Stars

Plastikspork, since you've returned to editing on this page, you've been doing nothing but continuously reverting [1] this edit I made, in which it points out that cash prizes are given to Challenge winners. Your basis for doing this reversion is that there was one out of 17 Challenges that didn't have a cash money prize--that being the very first one. The very first season is titled Road Rules: All Stars so a "Challenge winner" does not refer to an All Star but Real World/Road Rules Challengers. You say that you don't want to be continuously reverted above yet you are bordering on engaging in yet another edit war on this page. 65.31.103.28 (talk) 00:03, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

(Unnamed IP 65.31.103.28) First, I would appreciate it if we could discuss issues here first, rather than constantly reverting each other. Second, please at least review my entire sequence of edits before reverting all of them. Third, please consider compromising, since that's part of what makes Wikipedia work. Now, with regard to the statement "A hefty cash prize is always awarded to the Challenge winners". I believe this statement is not correct for the following reasons: (1) Define the word "hefty", (2) The word "always" means every single time, which does not include times that they were not given cash and in some cases received other prizes like a trip or an E-trade account, (3) The word "cash" does not include checks, which they are most certainly given. It is for that reason that I suggested the compromise. What was your specific objection to my compromise? I would like to establish a working relationship here since we both seem to care very deeply about the contents of many of the same pages. Please suggest a suitable compromise if you don't like mine. Thank you. Plastikspork (talk) 00:06, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Please look up the word hefty if you have an objection as to the meaning of a word. You will see that it means a great amount. Debating cash and check is unimportant as ultimately the award isn't the check, but it's the cash that can be made from the check. While I would be fine with a amicable relationship with you in editing these articles, I would suggests making constructive edits and not engaging in petty nonsense as I am afraid you're doing. Again, there was nothing wrong with my edit as it states Challenge winners', not All star winners, but to avoid this becoming a ridiculous edit war I've gone ahead and added info about Road Rules All Stars in the introduction. 65.31.103.28 (talk) 00:27, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

After letting this issue rest for awhile, and taking time to think about it, I would like to revisit this issue. For the record, the article currently states
The prepositional phrase, "While the All Star winners from the precursor (Road Rules: All Stars) were awarded a trip" can be removed if we just change the "always" to "typically" or "traditionally". Anything that doesn't mean "every single time" and can allow for some variation. For example, the prize on the Island was technically gold, which is not cash. However, it could be considered a "monetary prize" since it is "money" in that it was almost certainly paid by check with taxes deducted. My second minor objection is to the word "hefty", which is close to (if not) a WP:PEACOCK in that degree of "hefty-ness" depends on someone's point of view. A starving student might think that $1000 is a hefty reward, while Warren Buffet might think that $100,000 is just spare change. I'm not trying to be a jerk here, just trying to suggest some potential edits for discussion before diving in. Thanks! Plastikspork (talk) 23:09, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to get off point here but can I have your opinion on the 'title change' info I added. Honestly, I really don't understand why Road Rules All Stars is even considered season one judging from the article about this season. Seems more like a precursor, but I have checked throughout the internet and it is stating everywhere that the Island is the 16 season and The Duel 2 will be the seventh which suggests that The Road Rules All Stars had to have been its first season. Because of this, I have to assume that the title of the show was changed in its second season so I pointed this out on the article opening. What is your opinion on that Plastikspork?

I agree that it's confusing since the first season didn't follow the same pattern, but that's the way it goes. All your recent edits in this regard look like improvements to me. Plastikspork (talk) 02:10, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Actually, after giving it some thought, I have no idea why I objected to your original edit awhile back which was ; except for the first season, then we have the information. What do you think about that? I also see your point with hefty. How about just a monetary award. Cheers dude (talk) 23:22, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Sounds good. I made a minor change to your most recent wording. I hope you agree. Plastikspork (talk) 02:10, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I think I objected to it because of the whole Road Rules All Stars being considered a season but yea, now that I know it officially is how about the 'except for season one'. Cheers dude (talk) 23:26, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Good. Agreed. Plastikspork (talk) 02:10, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Anti-gay bias

Some have noted how gay men are nominated for elimination early. From The Inferno II to The Duel II (except The Island which had a different format) gay men were NOMINATED for 5 out of 7 first elimination rounds and 7 out of 7 second elimination rounds. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.111.19.110 (talk) 18:34, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

I don't think you can really say there is anti-gay bias on the show. The last challenge (Duel II) had many gay cast members, both male and female. Yes, it's true that gay males are generally voted out early, but I think it's because they aren't in the social circles that usually dominate these challenges. This show is about who you're friends with more than what type of person you are. --Sideshowmel0329 (talk) 15:16, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Challenge records dispute

There seems to be a dispute going on regarding a couple of feats on the Challenge records table. They involve "Most Challenges Without Winning an Elimination Round" and "Most Elimination Rounds in a Single Season."

I DO NOT think that Theresa González belongs in the "Most Challenges Without Winning an Elimination Round" feat. Though she has participated in five seasons (out of six) in which she was eliminated without even winning an elimination round, this should ONLY include contestants that have NEVER won a single elimination round AT ANY TIME in their challenge careers. This is just like the Super Bowl, in which the Denver Broncos have lost five Super Bowls, while the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings have each lost four. However, unlike the Bills and Vikings, at least the Broncos have won three Super Bowls. Thus, the Bills and Vikings have participated in the most Super Bowls without winning even one.

I DO feel that Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio and Nany González each belong in the "Most Elimination Rounds in a Single Season" feat. The "Battle of the Ex-iled" counts as elimination rounds, as it permanently eliminated teams that lost in that tournament. Bananas & Nany won four times in "Battle of the Ex-iled," and later lost the "X-Battle" Dome prior to the final challenge. However, Bananas & Nany's loss in the "Strung Out" Dome that sent them to "Battle of the Ex-iled" should not count, because, unlike the "X-Battle" Dome, it DID NOT permanently eliminate them from the competition.

The Ex-iles were not the official eliminations of the season. The official eliminations of the season were the DOME. They were a tournament to get back in the game. Similar to Duels on Survivor, but that doesn't change the fact that said players were already eliminated from the main game. Also, I'd like to point out that there's no point in having a "most challenges without winning an elimination" if the rules don't apply to Theresa, who took four seasons to win an elimination, same as Melinda. What if Melinda, Tyrie, and Danny all win an elimination in a future season? Will it just be blank? Every other record is permanent until another person beats that record. While this one has the potential to disappear unless you apply the rule that if one takes four challenges to win an elimination for the girls side, then they should be listed regardless of them winning eliminations in future appearances. 2605:6000:6406:7A00:6420:5218:3D0D:265A (talk) 16:54, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Sarah Rice

How should we list her name in the Seasons section where she won(exes2/rivals3).

  • Sarah Rice - Name she started Real World/Challenge on
  • Sarah Patterson - Name she has now and most recent challenge
  • Sarah Rice Patterson - Combination
  • Sarah (Rice) Patterson - Combination but I'm not sure if she actually uses Rice as a middle name or anything now.

It was listed with Rice for Exes 2 and Patterson for Rivals 3. Which are the corresponding names she had at the time of winning. I felt it was better to reflect it was the same person for someone not familiar with her or the show would know, or at least someone who hasn't been following recently. I think best options are:

  • -Using Patterson for both wins
  • -Rice for Exes2, and a combination for Rivals3
  • -Just a combination on both (What I changed it to before adding this Talk section)

Bananas Prize Money

Anyone have the math to get to the amount $685,543 that was listed on page previously?

Season Daily Challenge Finals
Inferno 3 - $10,000
The Island - $75,000
The Ruins - $53,293
Rivals $2,000 $50,000
Battle of the Exes $1,250 $75,000
Rivals 2 - $17,500
Free Agents - $125,000
Rivals 3 $1,000 $275,000
Total: $4,250 $680,793

Combined total money is equal $685,043. $500 is missing from some simple daily challenge, or the original math was wrong.

It may be from a season he didn't make a final, or an old season before all the information ended up on wikis. If anyone remembers, go ahead and edit. WikiVirusC (talk) 17:32, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

I decided to add in a logo for the page, using the most recent full season. I decided to use that one over the upcoming, Champs vs Pros, since that is just a special and only last 6 weeks. Does anyone have a generic The Challenge logo that isn't season specific? Because I couldn't find one, especially with the newer way the logo looks, as apposed to the one from 10 years ago that is too outdated to use. Would rather use a generic one like that if one is available to be used.WikiVirusC (talk) 00:10, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

Champs VS. Pros

is the 30th season.47.202.19.158 (talk) 19:11, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

Champs vs. Pros is a 6-episode special, not a full season. It is similar to Spring Break Challenge in that manner, which also isn't included in the total number of seasons, as it was a special. The next full season which hasn't been announce will be the 30th.WikiVirusC (talk) 19:19, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

Champs VS. Stars

Champs VS. Stars follows the same format as Champs VS. Pros. here is the source to support my edit. http://www.mtv.com/news/3040101/challenge-champs-vs-stars/72.184.23.194 (talk) 17:56, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
