Removed banners[edit]

I have removed the banners on this article suggesting that it needs a "cleanup to meet Wikipedia's quality standards" and that it "does not cite any references or sources". This is because I have edited the article extensively, removing all extraneous material and inserted multiple references to remedy these problems.

Wha?[edit]

"Richard Olsen became a producer at Pacific High Studios and latterly formed the swing group Richard Olsen & His Big Band."

I'm fairly sure I understand what was intended by this sentence, but the adjective "latterly" seems somewhat clumsy. I thought to change it to "some time later", but figured it would be best to get input on making such a change - perhaps even from the original editor. Done! In future, if you see something you can improve like this on Wikipedia, just go ahead and edit it, but remember to explain your edit in the Edit Summary box. Thanks. --Kohoutek1138 (talk) 01:45, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Were Vs Was[edit]

I support using "Was a band" in the intro over "were a band" for 3 reasons. 1- per WP:Titles the article title should be singular (in this case a singular title of a band) so when we introduce the topic in the first sentence we are referring to the singular title of the band not the collective noun of the band. 2- per WP:Plurals we use the correct verb. All grammar guides will suggest using a singular verb for a singular title of an entity. and 3- Creates consistency. If we say "articles about some bands are collective nouns but articles about other bands are about the singular entity" makes no sense. every band has members, but the topic of the article is the band as a singular entity not the individual members.
