Untitled[edit]

THE DONALD is currently Godfrey James Macdonald of Macdonald, The 8th Baron Macdonald, Chief of the Name and Arms of Macdonald, High Chief of Clan Donald and 34th hereditary Chief of Clan Donald. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pawyilee (talkcontribs) 16:30, 26 February 2013‎ Pawyilee (talk) 03:26, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request: Converting this Redirect into a Disambiguation Page[edit]

The Donald is not just the nick-name given to Donald Trump. It is also the name given to the notable subreddit "/r/The_Donald". The subreddit can be seen in the Donald Trump 2016 Campaign article due Trump's role in giving an AMA in that subreddit during the election. Yoshiman6464 (talk) 02:49, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Done The redirect target is now the Reddit forum. — JFG talk 16:34, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
How is a redirect to the subreddit page more relevant? Trump has been known by this nickname a lot longer than the subreddit has existed.--Molandfreak (talk, contribs, email) 16:33, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, the nickname is older, however the forum is more likely to be what today's readers are looking for. This redirect is especially useful because of the convoluted spelling of "/r/The_Donald". Finally, there is no article on the nickname, and the list of presidential nicknames is just not a specific enough target. — JFG talk 15:19, 24 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to echo Molandfreak's comment. The primary topic for "The Donald" is the dude, not the subreddit about the dude, and the idea that "today's readers" are looking for a subreddit more than the man himself is preposterous. The subreddit only gets 22 page views a day, which gives me pause about it being any kind of primary topic. As such, I changed it back to "The Donald" redirecting to Donald Trump. This is in line with consensus "The_Donald" here. pbp 23:43, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Purplebackpack89: This was debated several times, and indeed nobody argues that the reddit forum is a primary topic compared with the president, but on the other hand the title The Donald has no clear primary topic, which is why it is best rendered as a small dab page. This setup has been stable since the last discussion in December 2018: Talk:Donald Trump/Archive 93#Hatnote for /r/The_Donald. Accordingly I'll restore the status quo; please start a move request if you'd like to change it per WP:CCC. — JFG talk 03:11, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Change of target[edit]

Per discussion at Talk:Donald Trump/Archive 67#Primary topic of "The Donald", I have changed the target to Donald Trump. --MelanieN (talk) 00:31, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The DonaldThe Donald (disambiguation) – I think there is a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for the term, and (perhaps unfortunately) it is not 8th Baron Macdonald. —BarrelProof (talk) 04:42, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Changed to follow wording of Barack_(disambiguation)[edit]

@InterestGather: Please check Barack_(disambiguation) for how Wikipedia chooses to reference former presidents, always in past tense. ChipotleHater (talk) 19:01, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
