Merger?[edit]

I wonder if this should be merged with Yigdal. Yes, the current version of that page contains lots of archaic text from the old 1906 Jewish Encyclopedia, and the writeup on the hymn in Christian hymnals is short, but even so, it's longer than this stub, and it makes clear (with reference to John Wesley's journal entry on the visit to the Great Synagogue) that this hymn is basically a translation (although loose). Furthermore, most 20th century hymnal versions of the text seem to have merged elements of the late 19th century Landsberg Mann translation of Yigdal with the Olivers translation. That is at least mentioned in the Yigdal article. This hymn seems to be a unique record of a 2-century long interfaith dialogue, and it seems very wrong not to remember that! Douglas W.
