Just incase my changes get deleted thought i would let you know Mel that tgbbq has ended if you don't believe me then fine but the channel has indeed ceased brodcasting

TGBBQ is based and broadcasts from Battersea Studios, not from purpose built studios in Cambridge. Source: [1]

I have added some of the presenters - web.archive.org is my source. Search for TheGreatBigBritishQuiz.co.uk and click on the presenters page. If that's not proof, then WHAT is?

Ronan has not left. Anna left 2 weeks a go. @ Mel Etitis: Where is your proof that Ronan has left? That's what I would like to know. Please tell me... when did you last watch TGBBQ? Dannybriggs93 03:25, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please familiarise yourself with Wikipedia guidelines, esepcially WP:CITE and WP:OR. Of course I don't watch this, nor do I ever intend to; that's irrelevant, though; we limit ourselves to material that can be verified by citations. You might well devote your life to memorising the minutiæ of this programme, but we can't accept your word for claims of fact. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 13:17, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please! I see your point of view. But you don't watch the channel! So how do you know? Look, I really don't want to argue here, I'm just an admin like you are, there is no possible way I can provide proof for this; what would you like me to do as proof? There's NOTHING! Just take my word, Anna left - I watched the show! Everyone knows she's left! Here's a tip for ya; go look at the website: www.tgbbq.com - look at PRESENTERS. Ronan IS there, Anna ISN'T. Is THAT proof?? C'mon, let's make this the end of it. You've admitted you know nothing about the channel. So how can you know more than I do? We're equal, so I could argue you have no proof. But I don't want to do that. If you change it again, and I think "well, he's obviously ademant" and leave it, then people viewing this page are going to get the wrong idea. He STILL works there. How about you watch the channel; then you'll see I'm right. PLEASE, let's not get unfriendly about this. 82.17.35.162 18:22, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: tell me what proof I can give and I'll try to provide it. 82.17.35.162 18:22, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:OR. "I know, I watched the programme" just isn't grounds for making a claim in an article. I'm not going to rot my mind by watching any of this stuff, nor is that a reasonable citation for a change. Most of the lists provided in the article are unverfiable, in fact; given that they're also trivial, I've removed aevery name but those of presenters mentioned on the channel's Web page.

For future reference: we're not equal — you need to give a citation to change material in an article, while I only need the lack of citations to deny the changes. (Also, you're not an admin; it's not clear that you're even a registered editor.) --Mel Etitis (Talk) 20:07, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See this link for PROOF anna has left: http://www.myspace.com/annafowlerpresenter (go to her BLOG)

and THIS to see Ronan still works at TGBBQ:http://www.toptvacademy.co.uk/presenters/cv2.php?name=ronanmckenna

You're not at all trying to be friendly, so here's your proof, now buzz off.

First, you seem to have a peculiar idea as to how Wikipedia works. If you continue to label other editor's edits "vandalism" when they're clearly not, and to engage in incivilities, you will find yourself blocked from editing.

Secondly, I'm not interested in being friendly; you've been insisting on your position without giving citations. That you finally give citations after much pressure is better than nothing — but in future, please give citations in the first place. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 10:48, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Editing[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

Why do my added presenters keep getting removed by Mel Etitis i would like to know? just cause every presenter i added are at the moment working on tgbbq. Michaelmark91 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Michaelmark91 (talkcontribs) 19:19, 22 March 2007

For the same reasons that they were reverted when added before, and for the reason that I've given at your Talk page. You didn't explain what you were doing, and you gave no sources. Also, the one source on the page – the company's Web site — has a page of presenters, and the people that you're adding aren't on it. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 20:24, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"I've seen him on the telly" is not a good source. Please stop. If what you're trying to add is true, then fine — give a source for it, and add it. Read WP:CITE (though your alter ego didn't, so I don't suppose that you will). --Mel Etitis (Talk) 20:49, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive Edits[edit]

Mel,

I watch TGBBQ a lot more than you probably do.

James Callow was on tonight - I recorded the show, I can send a video of him presenting if that'll shut you up.

The other presenters were on the web archive - have you bothered to take a look on the presenters page of The Great Big British Quiz on web.archive.org? If you have then you wouldn't have deleted the people.

Yes, I have looked at the presenters page &mdash it's the only source that's been give. It contains all and only those on the list that I've been reverting to. I haven't looked at web.archive.org, beacuse the current site is given as a source. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 00:41, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fine, I'll cite the web archive of the site as a source as well then. I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but - at this moment - you're preventing information from being put on this website due to your campaign for source after source. Alan Ennis will be presenting on The Great Big British Quiz tonight at 7pm, and James Callow presented last night. Here is a picture of James Callow ON TGBBQ.

  2. Your peculiar notion that this is some sort of persional crusafde against this article betrays your ignorance of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, despite the fact that I've given links to them many times. Edits should be explained and sourced.
  3. A listing giving Christian names isn't a source for the addition of full names. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 13:44, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mel, What more proof do I need to prove that James Callow and Alan Ennis are hosts on The Great Big British Quiz? I have posted a link to a picture of James Callow presenting on The Great Big British Quiz last night. I really don't know how else I can prove to you that they are hosts on TGBBQ. I really don't know why you have decided to discard my efforts to add to this Wikipedia page. Why would I lie about hosts hosting on TGBBQ? Adders 82.9.250.55 16:48, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not sure how many times I've posted this link on various Talk pages and above, and you have refused to read it in any of your incarnations: read WP:CITE. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 17:47, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Various incarnations you say? There has, and always will be only one of me. The fact of the matter is, they are hosts on the channel, no matter how much you don't want them to be, they still are hosts. If you can tell me HOW to prove it without just posting that link - which is getting very tedious, then we can stop this dispute. For now though, it seems that there is no way of resolving this deadlock.

There are many things that people know, but that they can't add to Wikipedia articles because there are no adequate, verifiable sources. This may be one of them. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 20:11, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TGBBQ ceases broadcasting[edit]

The Great Big British Quiz has ceased as the Play to Win Limited board have taken the decision to cease trading.

Employees were told of the decision in a letter. (More at QuizTelly.com)

The main TGBBQ article should be updated when we get an official source.

Fair use rationale for Image:Tgbbq-logo.jpg[edit]

Image:Tgbbq-logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:39, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TGBBQ[edit]

If information on this TGBBQ page is incorrect, who do we go to in order to correct it. As an ex-member of staff, its becoming a little frustrating for me when people keep refering to TGBBQ as Cambridge based. Several times now someone has said this and sited wikipedia as their source. The accountants were based there, that's where the cheques came from but thats it. TGBBQ was based in Battersea Studios, 80 Silverthorne Road, London SW8 3HE.

http://www.battersea-studios.com/availability.htm

It was out of studio TV2 and as you can see ETV still have the lease. I'd be grateful if anyone can tell me how to get the info corrected. Thanks HayleyR101.
