Could someone contribute information on editions of the History? A quick search at the Stanford library turned up nothing more recent than the 1913 illustrated edition, with an introduction by an Oxford professor noting Gladstone’s call for a critical edition. An Amazon search turned up mostly dreck, with some facsimiles of older editions, and a Penguin edition, which seems to have been heavily abridged by Lord Trevor-Roper.

Check out the wonderful unabridged, boxed-set, hard-bound editions published by the Folio Society in 1985 & 2009. They are reprints of the 1913 Macmillan edition. They're not critical editions, but they do have recent intros & forwards. As physical objects, they couldn't be better. Valerius Tygart (talk) 12:35, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
