Fair use rationale for Image:Mohicans2.jpg[edit]

Image:Mohicans2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Three different soundtrack versions?[edit]

The music used in the movie is slightly different from that in the CD release labelled 1992. I've not been able to find any place that has this "first" soundtrack aside from tracks on youtube (like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJvUi3EqWOQ)

Is there any record of this film version existing as a release, perhaps on cassette? AndarielHalo (talk) 04:41, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Promentory vs Promontory[edit]

Can anyone confirm which is the correct spelling of this track? The track listings have an E, the rest of the text on the page uses an O, MusicBrainz uses an E, Spotify uses an O, which one is correct? -- Malvineous (talk) 07:45, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That is weird indeed. As far as I know, the E-spelling is not a real word, and googling it leads mostly just to the soundtrack. The O-spelling is a real word, and it would fit the movie with its cliff scene. Yet the soundtrack appears to use the E-spelling, and even the website of the composer has it with E: http://www.trevorjonesfilmmusic.com/Mohicans%20Discography.html
On the other hand, according to the official Varese Sarabande site of the re-recording it is O: https://www.varesesarabande.com/products/last-of-the-mohicans
I suspect the title was originally meant to be the correct O-"Promontory", but someone made a typo or did not know better and it ended up with the E. And for the re-recording they fixed the typo, but the original will stay as it is. Just my speculation... Elanguescence (talk)
Very interesting detective work there, nice job! -- Malvineous (talk) 00:37, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
