This article is a mess -- it needs to explain the historical inaccuracy.

[edit]

This article contains hardly any detail about the historical accuracy of this film, which has been strongly questioned to say the least. I am adding a the "more citations needed template" to hopefully attract attention to help fix this article, which is currently woefully inadequate.

Currently, this article states: "there has been controversy about the historical accuracy of this film", which appears to be lifted directly from this page: https://www.facinghistory.org/books-borrowing/liberators-fighting-two-fronts-world-war-ii

I don't think the page of a library offering the DVD is really considered a reliable source (?), and it is clearly insufficient to mention a "controversy" without explaining what the controversy is.

I have started by fixing the link to the NTY source, which originally went to the wrong article:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Liberators:_Fighting_on_Two_Fronts_in_World_War_II&diff=989632565&oldid=988459426

Here are the two articles involved in that edit: https://www.nytimes.com/1992/12/18/nyregion/a-tale-of-black-liberators.html

OK, I have improved the article a lot now. I think it has the basic points at least. It could have a lot more detail, and include photos, but I will leave that to more experienced editors. 82.132.213.162 (talk) 05:59, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Primarily black"

[edit]

There were no "primarily black" units. There were black, segregated units, white, segregated units, and Asian segregated units. 2603:7000:B23E:3056:C884:B510:DE1E:181F (talk) 12:00, 6 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don’t recognize this story

[edit]

At the time, this was exposed as a notorious media hoax. Someone has revised the real story beyond recognition. 2603:7000:B23E:3056:C884:B510:DE1E:181F (talk) 12:08, 6 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
