?[edit]

I've noticed that an article called Magdalen Asylum is a cleaned up version of this one

Rejuvenation of Synopsis[edit]

I have taken a little bit of time to write a big chunk of the synopsis. I found the original did little in the way of summerising the actual event of the film and it was quite central on Sister Bridget. I have reworked the Sister Bridget section and written a little on some of the other significant scenes of the film (the humiliation, the escape etc.). I haven't reverted, however, into blow by blow plot summary, which does not seem quite approapriate in the article. I hope others are happy with the changes I have made.

BTW: Is the woman who helps Bernadette and Rose a relative? Clarification anyone? Thanks!

She should be her (Bernadette) Dublin's cousine, the one she only saw once before. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.12.100.18 (talk) 20:52, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Change summary[edit]

I have deleted the section on the history of Magdalen Asylums. The section was wriiten in an unfropessional manner, and it was not related to the movie itself. Sure, the movie is about the Magdalen Asylums, but if someone is interested in knowing more about the Magdalen Asylums, they will go to its own article, which contains much more information, presented in a more clear format. The section on the history of Magdalen Asylums was useless and duplicate in my opinion.

Made some changes[edit]

Changed some sentences for grammar or just bad structuring. I also deleted or altered certain elements that were either unnecessarily cluttering up the character biographies or wrong. This was a great film and I made the edits last night after just watching it for the fourth or so time. Fermentor 09:50, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:The Magdalene Sisters poster.jpg[edit]

Image:The Magdalene Sisters poster.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 13:48, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removed[edit]

This is not supported by the source: However, the book on which the film is partly based has been shown to be a fabrication, and the allegations therefore suspect. The author of the book upon which the film is based has misled the public about her education and upbringing, and it is unlikely that she had any contact with the religious order at all. Worth noting?[edit]

I think that the fact that the Vatican has banned this movie is notable, but I dont know how to put that in. Could someone please add it?
List of banned films, and http://www.michigandaily.com/content/controversial-film-sisters-hits-dvd

What does that mean if a film is "banned"? Does that make it illegal to possess the DVD when on Vatican property, like the Holy See or any major basilica? The Vatican no longer publishes an Index of prohibited works, although my copy of the Index lists primarily works of faulty theology to prevent people from being led astray in their studies. Vatican officials denounce plenty of things, like sexy Madonna videos, but banned? What does that mean, exactly? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.191.247.254 (talk) 15:43, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would also like to know what the basis is for the assertion that the film has been "officially banned" by the Vatican. I am aware of a critical review of the film in the Vatican's semi-official newspaper L’Osservatore Romano; but a bad review in a newspaper hardly constitutes an "official ban" whatever that means. I think either a citation from a Vatican source or some other kind of credible evidence is needed to back up this assertion.Ocyril (talk) 11:50, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Never banned[edit]

I concur that it was never banned, and deleted the reference that was in the article. The news article that provided the citation did say "officially", but doesn't state its source for the claim, leaving us with a rather vague assertion. I have another article that refutes the claim. Here is its reference should it be needed for future editing.
