Needs to be assesed as high importance[edit]

This song needs to be assesed as high importance or maybe mid so more people can improve that article on the first hip-hop record made.Xx1994xx (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 18:35, 31 October 2008 (UTC).[reply]

I swapped out the lyrics page for one without any errors. I noticed in the older lyrics webpage the following two lines were incorrect: "Said she'd dance the tango skip the light fandango, a Zircon princess seemed to lost her senses."

In the artists that have used lyrics from this song sentence, all artists except Akon have the song in which the lyrics are used listed after their names. Unless someone can identify which song Akon uses a part of this song, his name should be deleted. Diablomarcus 17:06, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Expand[edit]

There should be more in this article, like how the song (somewhat unusually) received fairly wide airplay on some "white" radio stations at the time, and what the lyrics mean. It was parodied by Matt Groening in his "Life in Hell" comic strip, among others... AnonMoos 13:02, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is indeed a very notable song, worthy of an {{expand}} tag so here goes:

Kappa

should talk about the influence of this song on the evolution of hip hop music. It was the first non-materialistic hip hop song, dealing with social problems.

I added the template - wikiwonka12

I changed the template to a "song" template. It was part of an actual "The Message" album, which included six other songs (reference: http://www.amazon.com/Message-Grandmaster-Flash-Furious-Five/dp/B00009WLV3/ref=m_art_li_11/104-0056827-3819109#moreAboutThisProduct). -bwmcmaste

reference[edit]

Shouldn't there be a part saying it references A Whiter Shade of Pale? Skip the light fandango — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.94.251.19 (talk) 23:50, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed a couple of grammatical errors under the legacy section. Changing is to are and of to on.Luvnomi (talk) 23:58, 3 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok so so far I have added 2 subcategories in line with what we have discussed. Music & structure, and critical Reception. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HajiHaji (talkcontribs) 02:33, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think I have added all the text and now I am trying to figure out how to add the references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rseeley42 (talkcontribs) 19:56, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Adding References but can't seem to get them to link to the web page if applicable — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rseeley42 (talkcontribs) 00:59, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Right I added the first reference for NPR that's a link. However the Hinckley and Cairns references are not links. however I've added them let me know what else needs to be added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HajiHaji (talkcontribs) 13:12, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The references you've added look great, Haji. If you have time and are so inclined adding the others under further reading would be a fine idea. Luvnomi (talk) 22:02, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

@Necrothesp That is what every PDAB is. Are you against the idea of PDABs in general? Mach61 (talk) 14:17, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In general, yes. They should only be used very sparingly, if at all. As that section itself says, they are extremely controversial and opposed by many editors. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:23, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose the introduction of unnecessary ambiguity. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:18, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
