biased?

Since it has yet to be done, I will start the discussion.

68.24.131.174 has proposed that this article be biased toward fans of The National. I do not know what 68...'s reasons for this claim are, and I would appreciate 68...'s input. Also, I would like to know what other users think. Akihironihongo (talk) 19:12, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Unbiased As I said before, I don't know 68...'s reasons for thinking this is biased. This article does not seem to lean one way or the other in my opinion. Furthermore, the 'B' ratings given by Wikiproject United States and Wikiproject Alternative Music suggest others have not found bias in this article either. 68... is the first person I've seen in my albeit relatively short time on Wikipedia to find bias in this article.   • Unbiased Just weighing in here, though I agree with you. The only aspect of this article that I could see somebody reasonably construing as biased is the fact that four of the first five albums listed are described as being met with critical acclaim/praise. While these facts are both true and substantiated by the author of this article, when taken together they may paint an image of a slanted perspective. As I am relatively new to Wikipedia editing, I'm not sure if this a breach of neutrality, though I would not imagine it is. Fred.Pendleton (talk) 02:00, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Cleanup and additional sources

The article needs a cleanup and a lot of references are missing (it wasn't this bad last time I edited...). Some content, and I hate to say this because I am a big fan, sounds too promotional and needs to be removed/replaced/reworded and sourced. ~dee(talk?) 13:56, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I am not a frequent editor of Wikipedia, so excuse me if this is the wrong place. However, the UDP (Undisclosed Payments) template on the top of this article seems either erroneous or misleading, and it is extremely unclear as to what it's referring to. Perhaps an editor paid to edit Wikipedia was found on this page? If I knew where these edits were made, or by whom, I could easily change them and remove the template. However, as it stands, it seems like the template is proclaiming to the general public that The National paid to have positive edits on their wiki article which seems... pretty absurd. Without clarification, the "paid" edits could be anywhere in the (lengthy) article, forcing a complete rewrite of the article, which is both counterproductive and a waste of time. Again, I'm not sure if this is in the correct place, but if any clarification can be made on this matter, it would be appreciated. Teriyaki dreams (talk) 01:57, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

Teriyaki dreams, I would agree, and have wondered the same thing myself. My guess is the main section this would refer to would be Political and social support, as this seems a little too detailed and unnecessary. Compared to pages of other bands with notable political causes, such as Radiohead, U2, or Rage Against the Machine, the political sections either don't exist, are broken up differently, or even exist on a separate page altogether. So for The National, I'm guessing much of this section can be condensed. Thoughts? Mistakenformatt (talk) 22:45, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
