VERY INTERESTING THING I JUST FOUND[edit]

Hey Pond fam,

Interesting thing I've just found buried in memos traded between Millard Preston Goodfellow and William J. Donovan:

Goodfellow says: Lieutenant Colonel Grombach has been helping to set up out communication system for the reception of messages from our representatives. He never was given any authority to set up a "black chamber" and has not done so... Colonel Grombach has never been connected with C.O.I. He is attached to G-2 and has given us the benefit of his knowledge of available equipment, engineering and radio personnel, and general communications information.

Wild Bill says: Following our talk over the phone about our listening station, I am disturbed at all this talk about Grumbach. It has probably defeated the plan of turning that material over to us as a central agency. As I told you, I expect you to eliminate him altogether from anything affecting our office, whether he does it through G-2 or any other way. You evidently do not know it, but I hear on all sides that he is talking too much...
