I am removing the link to the Steve White article, as I don't believe the drummer Steve White to be the author mentioned here.

Which edition of Starfire?

[edit]

This book, and its prequel In Death Ground, are both set in the Starfire universe.

In Death Ground was based around the published ISW 4: Arachnids supplement to Starfire 3rd Edition (not Starfire 3rd Edition Revised). While reading In Death Ground, I enjoyed following along in my Starfire 3rd Edition rulebook whenever new weapons or systems were described or used.

The Shiva Option was written several years after In Death Ground, after the 4th Edition of the Starfire rules had been published. What I'd like to know is, which edition of the Starfire rules was The Shiva Option based around?

I.e. when I'm reading The Shiva Option, should I be following along in my copy of:

  • Starfire 3rd Edition,
  • Starfire 3rd Edition Revised,
  • Starfire 4rd Edition, or
  • Starfire 5rd Edition
