Henry V and Herny VI[edit]

The section on Henry V mentioned that Henry V does not appear in the play. I thought it would be relevant to mention that Henry VI, his son, does appear as a character.Liamthomasdaley (talk) 00:16, 31 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Simon Eyre[edit]

I thought it would be worth mentioning that one of the characters, Simon Eyre, is based on a real historical figure.

Copyedit Questions[edit]

Minor question here, but is that "Otley" a typo? Another form of spelling? The most common spelling I've found is either "Oatley" or "Oateley." Ref 1, Ref 2, Ref 3 Jiterp (talk) 04:06, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Performance History[edit]

1. Thinking of moving some of the finer details in the beginning lead section into the performance history section such as: " The first edition prefaces the play with an "Epistle to the Professors of the Gentle Craft," and the Prologue was spoken before Queen Elizabeth. Philip Henslowe's Diary records a payment of £3 to "Thomas Dickers" for the play. This was, at most, half of Henslowe's usual fee for a play, so one or more other payments, not recorded in the Diary, are likely." Jiterp (talk) 20:59, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2. [Temporary notice] We also have a lot of "raw" data/history compiled on our google docs that just may help any other groups get a more thorough sense of the performance history; anyone with a UMD email can see it here. For the group assigned to peer edit this section, feel free to glance at the docs as well. Jiterp (talk) 16:18, 12 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

3. Notes for Further Editing/Still need to do: Insert a few images of the most major performances; clean up anything too wordy or not neutral enough; attribute any analytical statements to a source; lastly copyedit, double check all links work and are correctly used. Jiterp (talk) 05:41, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

4. Update--this section has now been copy-edited, fact-checked, and all links that could be added (has a wiki page) have been added. Sadly unable to dig up any more modern production pictures that are in the public domain. Jiterp (talk) 17:59, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A New Section[edit]

1. Planning to add a new section in order to delve into where Dekker drew his inspiration from, including "Famous Victories of Henry V" as well as Thomas Deloney's "The Gentle Craft". Aoneill7 (talk) 18:12, 18 March 2018 (UTC)aoneill7[reply]

2. Will take description of Simon Eyre's character in "Character" section and expand on the myth of Simon Eyre, allowing for more room to talk about his actual character in the play in that section, per the request of the "Character" section group. Aoneill7 (talk) 18:12, 18 March 2018 (UTC)aoneill7[reply]

3. Will briefly discuss the Shoemaker's Guild and how Dekker drew inspiration from group. Aoneill7 (talk) 18:12, 18 March 2018 (UTC)aoneill7[reply]

Rowland Lacy[edit]

Rowland Lacy is referred to too often in this page as both "Rowland" or "Lacy", but this can cause some confusion for those who have not read the play. This is since another character, his father, has the same last name. In the play, though, he's more commonly called "Lacy", so should we fix all mentions of him to "Lacy"?
