Duos and bands in contestant list

I don't think we should write the band that the contestant used to be in or whether or not they are in a duo since it was not done so for season 1 - dia from meg & dia, and the thompson sisters/ ellenowen (duos) Maine12329 (talk) 13:59, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

Elimination Summary Chart

I think that the elimination summary chart someone includes which contestant is mentored by which artist, I think the simplest way to execute this is simply color coding the names of each of the contestant on the left, such a Blue for Cee Lo, Green for Blake, Red for Adam, and Yellow for Christina, especially if you are going to include the semi-finalist (top 32) in the chart I feel it is necessary. 96.248.129.56 (talk) 03:43, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

The Voice Information Box

The information in the summary box on the right hand side is incorrect. It seems that the information appearing is for the U.K. version of the show. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.231.8.146 (talk) 16:35, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Vandalism of the Page

We need to make sure that people aren't coming on here and messing up the page for fun. I know many of us have worked hard at putting this page together for a new show and for a show like this it takes a lot of time to get the page together. I recently came on today and saw that people were putting X Factor related people (both winners of the show and judges names) in place of the actual judges and producers. They also changed the locations of the show and added a whole bunch of other mess that I fixed. I think it may be wise to limit who can add to the page and who can't. ~signed Spiretre~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spiretre (talkcontribs) 16:53, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Competition Format

I came here hoping to find out the format for next week's show. They said the final 8 contestants will perform next week, but as of now, we only know 4 of the final 8. When will the winner's for Team Adam and Team Ceelo be announced? How will the contestants be eliminated in the next round? By vote or by team captain? When will the contestants actually compete against other teams? Will the overall winner be determined by vote only?

I went to The Voice articles for other countries (Holland, I think) that have completed a season, but there is no information there either. If anyone knows the answer to the above questions, I think it would be good to put in the article. Thanks. Van Vidrine (talk) 18:49, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

The Dutch (original) format differs from the format used in the U.S. In The Voice of Holland the blind auditions were aired over 4 episodes and the coaches had more contestants (13-15) in his/her team for the battle rounds. After the battle rounds every coach had 6 (4 in America) contestants in his/her team. During the first six liveshows only two teams performed per liveshow and only one contestant of every coach was eliminated after the liveshow (instead of two being eliminated in America). Liveshow 7 had 12 contestants with 4 being eliminated, liveshow 8 had 8 contestants with also 4 being eliminated. Liveshow 9 had 4 contestants left and was the final show. Some voting for the last shows used an point system. For a complete overview of the Dutch format, have a look at the Dutch Wikipedia page for The Voice of Holland. Season pages

I think each season (including season 1) should have their own pages, like American Idol and America's Got Talent seasons do. Cleo20 (talk) 22:56, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Yep. The main page cannot have weekly episode like what is currently here when there are more seasons to come. Would be a complete mess even by Season 2. However I would wait until just before Season 2 starts before the article is split into individual seasons per WP:CRYSTAL. Hzh (talk) 10:06, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
What title would you suggest for the various seasons, taking into account that many other countries are also starting 'The Voice series next year. Would The Voice (American season 1), The Voice (American season 2) etc be appropriate? Or a better alternative should be found? What to do with the Dutch series as well presently on The Voice of Holland but already in its second season. A brief look at The Voice (TV series) just shows what we will be up to if a uniform presentation cannot be devised for the various seasons in the various countries werldwayd (talk) 06:40, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

The U.S X factor has a sean 1 page already and hasnt even started yet! --La223 (talk) 12:50, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

"Lady Marmalade" Performance

It was clear that Aguilera and her finalists performed the Christina, Pink, Lil' Kim and Mya version, so I don't understand why it keeps being reverted back to the Labelle version, when it's not. Angelic-alyssa (talk) 19:00, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

(1) When you say "It was clear" what you mean is that is seemed to you that it was so. That is original research.
(2) When you talk about which "version" of the song they did, it only makes sense as a claim if you mean which "arrangement" of the song they did. To my knowledge there is no reason to think that: (a) They performed the same arrangement of any of the previous recordings of the song rather than just one different from all of them, or (b) The arrangement of the song as performed by Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mýa, and Pink is actually different from the arrangement of the original by Labelle. Because if it isn't a different arrangement then arguing about which "version" they performed makes no sense.
(3) Even if you are right and the two arrangements are different and they performed the Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mýa, and Pink arrangement, there has been no consensus here that particular arrangements should be referenced in the tables. The X Factor pages list no artist at all and the American Idol pages (after many debates and discussions) have opted to list the original artist, not performers of any specific subsequent versions. If you want to make the case that in general songs here should be listed with particular arrangements noted, then you would need to make that case. But the arguments that were made in Idol discussions against such a practice in general are pretty good ones, so you might look those up first. 99.192.50.44 (talk) 20:10, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
The American Idol page is not a good example because every year you get the same battle being fought, with endless reversions of song artist's names. There are probably more reversions on this issue than anything else. It's a pointless battle, especially when most of the time it has got nothing to do with the show. So for The Voice page it's best to thrash it out properly first before going down this route. Personally I think leaving the original artist name out is the best way as it avoids any further disagreement. Hzh (talk) 10:33, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
Hzh, I agree with you. There is no need to name any artist at all (especially since all the individual songs are linked to their own Wikipedia pages and those pages tell all about who recorded the songs). When someone sings "Piece of my Heart" they sing the song. That Erma Franklin recorded it first or that Big Brother and the Holding Company has the most well remembered recording of it or that people commonly think of it as a Janis Joplin song is neither here nor there. There is no reason to name any of these people in the context of this article. People who want to know more about the song can just click on the link and read it there. But since none of Erma, Big Brother, and Janis actually got up on stage and sang on this show, there is no need to mention them. If anyone should be named, it would make sense to name the songwriters (Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns, in this case). But the best solution is listing no one as information about who wrote the song is also available on the song page. 99.192.49.166 (talk) 12:54, 24 June 2011 (UTC) (=99.192.50.44)
Seeing no further input on the question, I will be bold and remove all the names of original artists from the page. I expect this will prompt someone to object, in which case they can come here and join in the discussion. Here I go! 99.192.61.164 (talk) 12:34, 25 June 2011 (UTC) (=99.192.50.44)
To: 99.192.61.164 - Of course you could be even bolder by acquiring an account in Wikipedia. It just takes a minute or two maximum werldwayd (talk) 10:04, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
You know, Werldwayd, I have found that I can do about 98% of the editing of Wikipedia that I want to do without an account. Besides, with all the pressure that account-based editors put on people to create accounts and with the general disdain they treat any editor without one (To most, I am not a fellow editor. I'm not even a person. I'm just "an IP"), the boldest thing I think I can do is to not make edits from an account. 99.192.81.148 (talk) 14:13, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Proposing News Colors

Well, really, new color. I do not like the blue chosen to show who has been eliminated. It's very dark, so you cannot read any of the information. Maybe a lighter blue or even just plain old gray? 12.34.246.77 (talk) 20:19, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Have to agree with the user above, the dark blue has made the info really hard to read and it kinda hurts to look at. Does anyone object to changing the colour to something lighter? - JuneGloom Talk 20:24, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Votes "against"

Hello! Can you tell me, please, if the television audience can vote "against" a contestant in the U.S. version of The Voice? There seems to be an original new rule in the Ukrainian version... --ΑΜακυχα Θ 13:13, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Can someone put a logo up for the show. This is the Voice after all. It's up their with American Idol and The X Factor so it needs a logo. It's not the Sing Off. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spiretre (talkcontribs) 16:45, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

The present logo with the 4 judges appearing is unacceptable and clearly promotional. I am removing it from the infobox and putting it lower where the panel are mentioned. The Voice logo is this: [1] now in place werldwayd (talk) 07:40, 29 December 2011 (UTC) werldwayd (talk) 16:10, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

International syndication

This section is unclear and needs a lead paragraph to say that these stations are serving these countries with rebroadcasts of the US series. Or else just a listing means meaningless or at best very ambiguous to me. Of course if these are "local" versions and not the American version, then listing doesn't belong here anyway. werldwayd (talk) 07:56, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

Is this section meant to show where The Voice is broadcasted to to show where The Voice of ... is broadcasted? Because I don't understand it... if it is the latter one, where is Holland? The first country with a The Voice version! Dqfn13 (talk) 22:01, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Vicci/Beverly placements

I'm just curious where the sources are that said Beverly was 3rd and Vicci was 4th? I'm not doubting it, I'm just recalling (maybe incorrectly?) that no such distinction was made between them on the actual finale show. Also why is Dia referred to as the "original runner-up" and Beverly the "1st runner-up"? Did Dia forfeit her placement or something? MarkMc1990 (talk) 03:24, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Well that was the order that they were called out. Vicci was put down first, then beverly, then it was between Dia and Javier. Dia got 1st on itunes but Javier took the trophy, so I think the placement is fine and accurate Maine12329 (talk) 11:36, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I just went back to watch the final episode because I found the placements very strange since Vicci's original song did better than Beverly's on the US charts. There was no such thing as 3rd/4th place being announced. Although Carson Daly did say the exact words "Beverly and Vicci, you may leave the stage" in that order, this does not imply any placing.Maine12329 (talk) 11:28, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Change of title

Didn't The Voice (U.S.) already indicate the show is from the U.S.A.? I don't understand what the difference is with U.S. TV series... except showing it is a TV serie. Dqfn13 (talk) 10:49, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

I don't think it's too necessary actually. For example, for America's Next Top Model, they don't bother to put the words TV series behind it even though the name could imply a magazine or something. We would only need such an indicator if there were other things with the same name as "The Voice", which is not an issue at the moment. Maine12329 (talk) 07:53, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

That's right, because other shows are called: "The Voice of..." Holland, France, Italy and so on, and so on. But the title has been changed back, now please, keep it like it is!
I've named these because I'm only certain about those shows... don't know any others... for sure. Dqfn13 (talk) 14:25, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Keep the contestants who did not get into live shows or not

Perhaps we should change the summary table to finalists only because the battle rounds of season 3 is tricky to qualify it properly since there is a steal. It would make the table less lengthy also.

We should make the summary table of only the contestants who make it to the live shows. Since only 5 from each team make the live shows, the table would be less lengthy also. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.69.140.79 (talk) 22:50, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Notable Contestants Box

I think Angel Taylor from season two should be added. Her two songs "Like You Do" and "Chai Tea Latte" are very well-known!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.168.81.68 (talk) 01:34, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Each contestant has their own notability after the show. Taylor's songs have been featured on TV shows but so have other contestants. Including all of them would clutter up the box and make it a redundant list. Contestants listed there at current have all charted on the Hot 100 or Bubbling Under Hot 100. ⊾maine12329⊿ talk 15:50, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Don't edit and leave a mess behind.

Renzoy and others, your editing of tables has created layout errors that did not exist before your edits - and should not exist now either. There are ways of preventing this, like for example using the "Preview" option before "Save page". --Loginnigol (talk) 13:58, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

Sorry if I didn't respond quickly to your message in my talk page. I was out of town for almost two days. Anyways, to answer your question about what browser I am using, I am using Google Chrome. And based from what I did with the table, I think it was okay. However, if some people like you are having difficulties with the table, I think I can make a remedy of that. So, no worries.
And by the way, I always use the Preview and Save options, I even made it in my sandbox. And also, I think I did not made a mess in the article. So please stop labeling it that way. My intention was to improved the article, not to destroy it. Chill sir.--AR E N Z O Y 1 6At a l k 09:27, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
What you don't seem to understand is that until you make the remedy, the table has to be in the previous state. Layout error cannot just sit there in the article like an unfinished edit. So yet again (for the third time) I have reverted it back to that previous error-free state. --Loginnigol (talk) 11:17, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
Just a note, I didn't reverted the table. Someone else did it. I am currently working on the new table layout.--AR E N Z O Y 1 6At a l k 12:18, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
OK who messed it up yet again this week? I don't intend to go on a fishing expedition. The onus is on editors not to leave a mess behind. Otherwise the entire section will be removed since a glaring table error cannot be allowed to be visible. --Loginnigol (talk) 11:15, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Not that I appreciate such arrowing but well, it was an IP address [2]. When I noticed it but was unsure whether or not to revert. The citation has no mention of most of the countries listed there. It's fine to keep the section hidden until an editor has the time to properly cite and get the full list of countries. cheers ⊾maine12329⊿ talks@wiki 14:46, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

"Coaches and their finalists"

How would we feel about just removing these colors altogether? Not only are they confusing, but the colors used don't really indicate competition placing the way gold/silver/bronze do. My recommendation would be to just highlight the winning coach's team in a green {like The X Factor USA) and leave the others uncolored. After all, just one section before a more detailed table is presented for readers. WikiRedactor (talk) 19:47, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

I honestly find removing all the colours important because having a 'Coach Placing' is totally original research. Who is to say who's 2nd 3rd or 4th just by who was the last contestant on their team... Had tried to put it as the X factor colors before but was reverted time and again. ⊾maine12329⊿ talks@wiki 11:42, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
Edit - I'm removing any mention of 'coach placing' on the season pages as well. ⊾maine12329⊿ talks@wiki 05:08, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels so strongly about this. Coach placing has nothing to do with the show, on top of the fact that it was very misleading given the large-scale changes they made last season. WikiRedactor (talk) 20:38, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

I disagree, I like a little drama, I find it very fun to know who came in what place. Nicatnite (talk) 1:21 P.M., 14 October 2013 (UTC)
