Reception[edit]

@GraemeLeggett Please explain what aspect of External links policy my edit fails. Cites to Professional Reviews are permitted, according to the WP Help material, despite having once upon a time been barred. Professional reviews seem to me a very helpful barometer of the Reception of the book. Pechmerle (talk) 06:30, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Pechmerle: You didn't cite any particular reviews, you linked to a list of items returned by a search query at a website (which the added text said was reviews). Wikipedia policy on external links to avoid (at WP:LINKSTOAVOID) has as Item 9. "Any search results pages...". Further, the links I tested wanted an (institutional?) login which is number 6 on the Links to avoid list - "Sites that require payment or registration to view the relevant content, "
Further to that in my opinion, the list of links wasn't informative, even if they had the appropriate access a reader would have to select each in turn to find out what the content was.
Sheer numbers of reviews is a barometer of the number of reviews, it does not address the scope of reception - which might be limited to niche publications, and doesn't address quality of reviews. GraemeLeggett (talk) 10:04, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
