The Map

[edit]

Ok, in attempt to stop the edit war I think I will try and start a discussion. I agree that the map should be included but I'm not editing because I don't want to break the 3-Revert Rule. Anyway, I honestly don't see why this is such a heated issue. These kinds of maps are used on the US X Factor, America's Got Talent, and I'm sure other talent shows and no major problems like these have arisen that I am aware of. They provide helpful and useful information. Not everyone wants to read everything to find out one tiny detail and these maps make it easier to see where auditions were, and I would say that is very helpful to a casual viewer. AdabowtheSecond, I personally don't have any issue with you, I think you are doing a great job in trying to improve articles, but I agree that you are taking your love of One Direction too seriously. This is the only map you are seriously going after...and it just so happens to be the season One Direction was on. That's no coincidence. I also agree that you thinking it's ugly it's NOT a legitimate reason to remove it. You may think it looks ugly, but obviously other people don't and like it, myself included. You are welcome to have an opinion, but just because you don't like it doesn't mean you are the ultimate decider. --Shadow (talk) 05:49, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

youll never reason with him. hes to obsessed with one direction to think clearly. he thinks hes god and no one else can touch one direction stuff. site clearly says you cant take ownership of articles and that is exactly what you doing. you just cant execpt that more than one person wants this and you dont — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.128.215.51 (talk) 15:56, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I would also like to have the map included. I've been lurking on these pages recently and I've always felt the auditions paragraphs are always a chore to read...I think they appeal to casual viewers such as myself. They do just fine on other shows too. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.24.131.13 (talk) 02:46, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've been removing it but you're right, it is "very helpful to a casual viewer". So I've reverted myself. –anemoneprojectors13:58, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry i was unaware someone had opened a discussion, I still don't like it as it obstructs the section abit in my opinion, and the article already past GA with out it, i still think its unnecessary but with the new formatting it does look better than before and IP 65.128.215.51 you can not even edit most One Direction articles as most of them are protected so you would not know how i edit with other editors on 1D related articles, everyone is welcome to help 1D related articles. For example Shadow made the entire One Direction 2013 World Tour North American dates table, I'm very thankful for that, I'm mostly the only regular editor on their pages and if you go the revision history there are barely edit wars, mini rant over, I'm done reverting the map and IP 68.24.131.13 insulting users personally is never a way to handle a discussion just cite reasonable reasons why you think something should be included. Now I'm going to edit 1D articles like an obsessed 1D fan and think i'm God who has no reasoning AdabowtheSecond (talk) 16:17, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
@Shadow i didn't even know maps were being added all the other series. I'm primairly focused on 1D articles and not x factor ones so i never noticed the other series being inflicted with these maps so i went to take a look, the maps fit ther and look much better because the prior series don't have images (for selection process) and as much text it doesn't obstruct and looks fitting on this page it just looks stupid and unneeded as i previously pointed the article has passed GA. I'm never meant to come across as the ultimate decider, I only said that you need gain consensus before adding something if it has been removed, according to guidelines, "The editor that wishes to include material that has been removed has the obligation to gain consensus that the material should be there, not the other way around. WP:BRD and WP:BURDEN both indicate this. Don't add it back until you have consensus that the material should be added." I was primairly unaware you had begun the discussion second rant over AdabowtheSecond (talk) 21:47, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
