Are There Parallel Universes?

[edit]

I live in the Netherlands and I've seen this episode (on Discovery NL) as part of the "Curiosity" series. But now, it's also aired as a genuine Through the Wormhole episode (with TtW-intro). I don't know how it's done in other countries, but I guess this episode should also be in the episode list?W3ird N3rd (talk) 00:42, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that Season 2 doesn't have the 10th episode listed.

[edit]

And I am not knowledgable enough (yet) to know how to add it to the wiki page (I suppose that I should fix that problem). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthew R Bailey (talkcontribs) 22:10, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ummm.. any info? 90.224.59.251 (talk) 06:01, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The rest of the season will premiere during the summer. There is very little info on it. I updated the page to reflect this. 67.172.234.33 (talk) 00:49, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks bro. 90.224.59.251 (talk) 21:11, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Revision to episode numbers

[edit]

I'm reverting the changes made by 69.203.113.34 to the numbering of the episodes. No reason was given for these changes, and both of his/her previous contributions to Wikipedia have been vandalism. Metrowestjp (talk) 19:28, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Conscious Robots?

[edit]

It seemed that some years before researchers at MIT and elsewhere were quite convinced that a human being is completely made up of matter/material energy and is ultimately a highly advanced computer--a highly advanced machine. Is that conviction still alive? Is it possible that robots / advanced AI machines will one day become completely cognizant of their surroundings, will possess emotions (happiness, anger, shame/shamelessness, embarrassment, audacity, rascaldom, cunning etc.)/feelings (pride, grief, narcissism, superiority/inferiority complexes etc.) and will develop consciousness on the level of current human beings/animals? Are the researchers with all the money at hand, close to achieving this in the near or distant future? (What exactly does "shame" reduce to in advanced AI systems language? What kind of particle interactions?) Why is nothing mentioned about this in the article?

Is it not possible that after all, the most advanced robot/AI machine of the future may at best become an extremely sophisticated philosophical zombie, but never, ever a conscious entity, but still the developers of the machine will try to pass it off as "conscious".

Please note that in the Robots... episode (2013), a scientist teaches a robot to associate colours with good and bad. Does that make a robot conscious??? A robot may be an expert in recognizing colours by measuring exact wavelengths. 650nm is red, but can a robot actually "experience" the colour "red" just as we do? Can robots (or will they in the future be able to) actually feel pain? Why are these deeper questions not discussed? Why are they brushed off? Because scientists just are not sure and haven't really grasped tconcept of consciousness ie they should seriously ask the question: "Where does consciousness come from?". -Polytope4d (talk) 12:49, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thought about “A robot may be an expert in recognizing colours by measuring exact wavelengths.”: I don’t think so! To do that, you need a spectrometer, not a sismple camera! And I didn’t see arrays of spectrometers, so this things can only analyze single points of view. But not pictures! Result: a robot is no expert fort colors! But: doing such things ane one way (of very much) to tell the machines racism and othter things! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.229.103.23 (talk) 18:20, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

different episode numbers in Europe?

[edit]

It seems like in Discovery Channel Europe the same episodes have totally different numbers, some times even cross seasonal. I'll appreciate if you check it and confirm. In season 3 the only change is episode 9 appears as 10 and episode 10 as 9. But other seasons have a greater mishmash. (93.172.33.239 (talk) 22:39, 20 April 2015 (UTC))[reply]

At least the episodes are named in more than one way. Just stumbled over „Brauchen wir Feindbilder?“ in the television. Couldn’t find this [the german wiki]. So I came here. Checking for the mentioned name “Mina Cikara”: ah, „Are we begots“ (6/1; 49)! Back to home: „Müssen wir in Stereotypen denken?“ (6/1; 49) … — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.229.103.23 (talk) 18:27, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

[edit]

I'm not very good at using Wikipedia. Can someone add a section on the seventh season? 83.253.167.10 (talk) 23:19, 2 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You have links? Nergaal (talk) 03:57, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No I just assumed it would be out by now. 83.253.167.10 (talk) 23:57, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Any info? 83.253.167.10 (talk) 19:18, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Talk pages are not to be used as forums or message boards (WP:NOTFORUM), so please stop continually posting "bump" every week or so. If news regarding a seventh season is announced, it will be added to the article. Thank you. Drovethrughosts (talk) 12:26, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thoughts about "Are We All Bigots?"

[edit]

Sorry, but my english istn’t good enough to tell „my story“. But I think, some (scientific) peopole might be interested. It could be an explanaition to “every one shoots faster if” wihtout (or maybe with less) racism. Ok, if interested: [the german pendant]. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.229.103.23 (talk) 18:12, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
