Missing phrase in sentence?[edit]

"In the 1959 Grand National his he came second on Wyndbergh…"

I suspect there may have been an omission between the 'his' and 'he'- is there, whoever has written this page?Cloptonson (talk)

It was a stray word not a missing phrase - fixed. Sorry, I was confused about first winner - Dufton Pike at Wolverhampton was his first winner as a trainer, not as a jockey. Thanks for pointing it out. Southdevonian (talk) 22:16, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I had been wondering if the sentence had intended to say the race was his first (or whatever it was in scheme of events) Grand National. First winning race[edit]

"His first winner was Dufton Pike at Wolverhampton in 1948."

However, this sentence is uncited. The wiki article on Woore Racecourse, which was on the north east Shropshire/north west Staffordshire border, well to the north of Wolverhampton, states his name among a short list of jockeys who had their first winning races at Woore; this is cited to a newspaper article, published 2013.
