Because the 32-bit number can store just 136.1 years in seconds, most of servers (for example time.ien.it) send the number of seconds since 00:00 (midnight) 1 January, 2001 GMT instead of since 00:00 (midnight) 1 January, 1900 GMT. I know the above comment was written years ago, but just for the record, I just verified the output of time.ien.it:37 and it's indeed an unsigned integer value representing the number of seconds since 00:00 (midnight) 1 January, 1900 GMT, not 2001. —Preceding unsigned comment added by A2457411 (talkcontribs) 14:08, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
