thanks for this valentina. we'll help you come up with some more yet.

Notable enough for this list?[edit]

Are Jeff Sheridan and Charles Mohr notable enough magicians to be included in this list? As above people like, say, Blackstone or Thurston or Harbin or Steinmeyer? It looks like self-promotion to me, especially when the Sheridan entry was trying to sell DVDs. Kosmoshiva 12:08, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I restored Romany as being the first woman to win a competition run by a society that up until the 1980s did not admit women. Kosmoshiva 15:28, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I Think Criss Angel is not important to appear in a "Timeline of Magic". A Timeline would be to remarkable things and relevant people at the magic history. He can be a good performer in some points. But a magic timeline is not a good place to personal marketing. Rossini BR

The same thing about Val Valentino... All the people outside magicians circles or few personal fans do not remember or know who are "Val Valentino". He is buried on a dust of ostracism. Rossini BR —Preceding undated comment added 00:33, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Romany entry[edit]

I don't think the Romany entry is noteworthy as required by the encyclopedia nature of this timeline. You may refer to the date of womens admission to the Magic circle as an an entry, but the mention of Romany in one particular year is out of context with the other great and important magicians in the timeline of magic eg Houdin, Vernon, Houdini, Copperfield etc. Indeed there are 100's of magicians 1000 times more important than Romany who are not in the timeline of magic.

A student writing a paper based on this timeline would be out of place to mention Romany as a 2000's event on the magic timeline when there is magic such as Chris Angel, Blaine, Takyama which is dominating the real headlines. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.131.9.135 (talk) 02:15, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. A woman being admitted to the Magic Circle is the notable event in this case. Besides, a student with any sense will read this discussion page. This list is in danger of becoming a vanity vehicle. It's not a timeline of magicians, it's a timeline of magic. btw Angel, Blaine and Takayama are all TV magicians. Perhaps the emergence of the form should be noted rather than the names? Kosmoshiva 03:10, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2000's Entries[edit]

We should work together to establish these. People such as Takyyama have become more than TV magicians because their magic has been published to such an extent that it is influencing what many current magic students are studying.

There are some noteworthy omissions from the list in recent years which should have better entries.

eg Penn and Teller, Copperfield, Daniels, Kaps, Sankey, Henning, Cooper.

Also magicians from the earlier era .

Although I recognise your point re magicians v magic, the magic of an era is very much characterised by its main practitioners and although there are some magic "events", the (important) magicians of the era will from a key part of the timeline. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.131.9.135 (talk) 03:24, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
