Date of birth

[edit]

This article has been placed in the category '727 Births'. What is the evidence that Timothy was born in 727? As far as I remember, neither Bar Hebraeus, Mari, Amrus or Sliba mentions his date of birth.

Rename

[edit]

Can someone rename this article please? He is normally referred to as Timothy I of Baghdad. See: Google search for Timothy of Baghdad for many examples. Thank you. 2.97.130.241 (talk) 02:02, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agree This would appear to be true, and supplies a natural disambiguation. Is there any objection to this move? William Avery (talk) 20:09, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Agree According to this article he moved the leadership from Seleucia Ctesiphon to Baghdad and his activity was in Baghdad. The only ones who call him "of Seleucia Ctesiphon" are this WP article and copies of it. פשוט pashute ♫ (talk) 08:37, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are 26 articles that disambiguate with "of Seleucia-Ctesiphon". We should not just be moving one. Srnec (talk) 12:19, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But this is not about Baghdad extending itself in later days to include Seleucia-Ctesiphon, but rather that the Catolichos before Timothy MOVED the seat of Eastern Christianity away from the SEPARATE location of Selucia-Ctesiphon to the new capital of Baghdad, where Timothy lived and worked!! פשוט pashute ♫ (talk) 15:42, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are 13 patriarchs after Timothy that are disambiguated in this way. I'm simply saying that we can't fix just one. The original title was "Timothy I (Nestorian patriarch)". It was moved unilaterally to the current title in 2020. Srnec (talk) 20:06, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
