Maybe we should add something about his MTB 2 by 9 drive train system. Something about the Nexus Plexus soft tail bikes. His tendancey to stay with time tested (retro) road bike designs with good tire clearance since he consideres road bikes as appropiate bikes for what others would consider cyclocross courses. And maybe something about his role in getting cycclocross races started in the US. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rcc105 (talkcontribs) 15:49, August 10, 2005.

Off-road riding

“[venturing] onto to dirt single-track trails on traditional road bikes with no modification” was hardly “something completely unheard in the 1960s and '70s“. The Rough-Stuff Fellowship was founded in 1955 - see for example https://www.bicycling.com/culture/a28786346/rough-stuff-fellowship-cycling-club/
