New article[edit]

I threw this new article together very quickly from a few online sources(plus a couple of album jackets) The original Tom Scholz article was deleted as much of the content was a copyvio lifted from an external website. As I said this is a quick replacement and is in dire need of copyedit and expansion. Anyone who wants to flesh it out...be my guest - Anger22 14:19, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I worked with Tom in the mid 70s at MIT Lincoln Lab (Lexington, MA) but he may have worked at Polaroid before or after he left Lincoln Lab. He left Lincoln Lab to spend more time with music. - 192.35.35.34 17:14, 18 March 2007 (UTC)Tom Doherty (tomdoh345@yahoo.com)[reply]

Possible source: The Hit Men[edit]

A book about the record industry called The Hit Men by Frederic Dannen offers insightful descriptions of Scholz and his groundbreaking disputes with the record industry. I think some of that material should be incorporated here. The basic thrust of it is that Scholz - unlike all of his rock star victim predecessors - was able to fight back against the record industry because he already had a good amount of money due to an invention he had patented. Education[edit]

The passage regarding Tom Scholz's education is wrong as Mr. Scholz did graduate from MIT ('69) and went on to receive a graduate degree from MIT ('70) as well.

Collaboration with Billy Squier[edit]

I had once read in a mid-1970s issue of an American music magazine — probably not Rolling Stone — that Scholz and Billy Squier had co-written and recorded a small collection of songs just prior to Scholz' formation of Boston and Squier's induction into Piper. However, my scouring of the Internet for this factoid failed. Legal Disputes Following Brad Delp's Death[edit]

Hello - On Brad Delp's Wiki page there's a great deal of detail regarding the legal disputes between Scholz and the Boston Herald/Micki Delp following Delp's 2007 death. It indicates that these disputes continue as recently as 2016, including rulings by the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts and requests to the US Supreme Court.
