Indiana Jones References in Trivia[edit]

References to Indiana Jones are numerous throughout Tomb Raider II, most notably by the use of locations from Raiders of the Lost Ark (Himalayas) and The Last Crusade (Venice). Also, the music featured in the scene showing Marco Bartoli putting the dagger in his heart is directly taken from the sacrifice scene from The Temple of Doom, played reversed and with some effects added.

So, merely including a setting is enough to make a reference? Is Kundun in refence Indy? It has a Himalayan setting. Likewise, there really isn't too much in common between the two scenes mentioned. They don't naturally suggest each other, no matter which way you play the tape. There is certainly no evidence I know of that the makers were thinking of The Temple of Doom scene when creating the Dagger scene.

Dagger of Xian[edit]

Okay, I looked everywhere for a reference to "The Dagger of Xian" as an official subtitle for this game and found nothing. Is there anyplace where this is officially used? Fresh Idea[edit]

Secret door[edit]

In Tomb Raider II, there is a maze outside the mansion and at the centre of the maze there was a grey button you could press. When you pressed it, a screen came up showing a secret doorway opening under the stairs. There is no mention of it within this article however. Can somebody include it somewhere and say what was inside the door? SKC

It is mentioned in the section Lara's Mansion: "The house is also home to many secrets, most famously the hedge maze concealing a timed switch to open the basement of the mansion.". - Shrensh 15:25, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Opera House[edit]

You are right. There are lot of references in the games that leads us that most of the places from TR games are half real. Once upon a time there was a chronology on laracroft.tv about similar places used in TR levels. Timeline Main 4 - this is he link that doesn't works for the moment. There are also offshore rigs in the Adriatic Sea, south of Venice (not certain whether they are oil rigs though) and the Maria Doria is possibly a reference to the SS Andrea Doria, an Italian cruise liner that sank in 1956. Ricadus (talk) 23:19, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sales[edit]

The 8 million sales figure that is already on wiki with reference to an old archived article of ownt.com based on a lost GameState article must be different from the truth. Kotaku cite Square as their source, as well as the sum of TR2's releases on VGChartz (TR2 on PS), show a smaller number, closer to 6.5m. Even though I debate a couple of the sites that made it to that 'unreliable sources' list (but that's another discussion), still Kotaku IS among the reliable sources and its article is considerably more recent AND Square is an official source, so based on what criteria is the GameState source a more trusted one? Square Enix source cited by Kotaku is surely reliable alright, though the figures in bar chart estimates are rough, like if it was sold between 6-8 million copies sold, so I'm a bit confused with this and GameState (8 million?). "TR2date" ref[edit]

@MikeAllen There's nothing wrong with the reference per se, but it's not being used in the article body, which is causing a bright red "cite error"; you can see the message at the end of the References section. It was removed in this diff. I am happy with you either reinstating the reference in the article body or commenting the definition back out (or indeed removing it completely) – whichever you think best for the article. My apologies, it seem like to me you were removing it because it was dead. The editor forgot to remove the actual citation (it's using list defined refs). I removed it since the third party reliable source Game Informer replaced the ref. Mike Allen 02:03, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
