Note on article name

[edit]

The locals simply call this place "Tombolo" (トンボロ). Although some sources call it Dogashima Tombolo (堂ヶ島のトンボロ) or Sanshiro Tombolo (三四郎島のトンボロ) I could not chose either of these over the other given that the locals themselves just call this place "Tombolo". Additionally, it seems Tombolo encompasses both a complete tombolo between Hamase Beach and Elephant Island, as well as its partial continuation towards Nakano Island. The canal that cuts it off is very narrow and shallow, I could jump across it if I were not afraid of slipping on the rocks. I'm not sure, therefore, if Tombolo is a true tombolo or not, so I use the name Tombolo when referring to both the complete tombolo and partial tombolo together, but use tombolo when referring to just the complete tombolo between Hamase Beach and Elephant Island. This is confusing, but I'm not sure of another way to refer to these while remaining technically accurate. Photos of Japan (talk) 18:46, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
