Reliable sources

[edit]

rock.co.za/files/springbok_top_20_(C).html is a self-published hobbyist web site and is not a reliable source. Ohnothimagain (talk) 23:50, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Um, no it isn't. While the site does include a "Readers' Lists" thread in the "Trivia" section at the bottom, that content does not negate the entire site. The South African Rock Encyclopedia sponsors and hosts the site. It is the result of a collaborative effort of many people, and the statistics are based on Springbok Radio, a national South African station that published music charts across three decades. The same data is used in many Good Articles on WP and is sourced from here. Please do not revert again. - JGabbard (talk) 00:53, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The Springbok Radio chart may be valid, but the source you are citing to document that chart does not meet Wikipedia guidelines for reliable sources. Ohnothimagain (talk) 14:18, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have a better source?? If so, I will be happy to use it here and elsewhere. But my source was merely copied from "Good Articles" such as "Beat It"[1], "Bohemian Rhapsody"[2] etc. So I would strongly suggest you take your case there first. Reverting. - JGabbard (talk) 23:11, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The question is not "Is there a better source?" The question is "Does the source meet Wikipedia guidelines for reliable sources?" It does not. Ohnothimagain (talk) 23:17, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently your view of this source not meeting Wikipedia guidelines is not shared by either administrators or project managers who confer "Good Article" status to song articles. Those articles are held up as examples for us to follow, which I have done. Please give it a rest and go elsewhere to prove your point, and do not revert again unless you want to be reported to WP:ANI for edit warring. - JGabbard (talk) 23:40, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
