Objection to proposed deletion[edit]

KEEP THIS ARTICLE. This article can not be regarded as a travel guide. This article describes the economic aspects of tourism, history of tourism, travel awards, tourism sub-regions, statistics, major events, major attractions, a repertory of various organizations acting in this field... The logic behind this article is to inform the reader about this booming industry. It would be an injustice for the Mauricie to remove this article. In sum, this article is useful to Wikipedia's readers. This article is a great value for Wikipedia and its distribution is quite appropriate. My recommendation is to preserve it and enhance it.

Gaétan Veillette, historian (Saint-Hubert, QC)

I proposed this article for deletion because, in its current state, it mostly offers information that is only relevant to tourists. However, if you believe the article should stay, you may remove the proposed deletion template.
The main problem is that information from the "Tourist subregions" section onwards has no indication of importance. For instance, what does the data in the Performance section demonstrate? What is notable about the listed attractions in the Key Benefits section? Why should I care how many tourist homes or B&B's there are in Mauricie? Without context or explanations, the article resembles an indiscriminate collection of information. It is worth noting the WP:INFO guideline, which states that "merely being true, or even verifiable, does not automatically make something suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. To provide encyclopedic value, data should be put in context with explanations referenced to independent sources".
